Have you ever been involved in the launch of a MMO? If you have then you'd know this is normal for the first month or two. I'm astounded that we haven't had more longer down times yes. Alao if you HAVE then most of your rant was a lie. If you haven't then is get used to it for the few months there are a lot of downtimes

LOTRO, SWTOR, STO and many others i have played did not have such things, not all mmo launches suffer as much.

Everyone complains "Too many bugs, fix this quest, fix the bots, fix the banks, this quest wont let me continue on to the next quest, this boss wont spawn.." but then when ZOS decides to do a patch to fix some things, then extends it to fix more issues, everyone complains.. Me? I'm glad that they are extending downtime to fix things properly. I would rather have an 8 hour maint period and come back into the game and not have so many issues. I think that's a better option then just having the game partially fixed. But, from these posts, I can only guess that I'm the only one that wants a less buggy game. Others seem to want a game to play, complete with bugs in it, so that they can flood the forums with posts saying how horrible the game and ZOS are. What ever will they do when the game is polished? Go find another game to complain about? Good riddance! Let those who have patience and understanding on how things go play the game and deal with the patches that make the game better and more playable.

No wonder there are so many problems with the game, the people at ZOS don't even understand a simple phrase such as "taking a little longer than expected" because it sure as hell doesn't mean twelve hours plus! LOL

Hopefully the fix will work out for the better.

It happens, they are having major issues in game and it needs to be fixed like yesterday.

Should have been fixed before they went live; but alas it was not. The worse thing is it is snowing again and I can't even go out and do yard work.

The maintenance for the North American megaserver is taking a little longer than anticipated, and we expect the server to come back online no later than early this evening. We'll let you know when we have any updates. Thanks!

I don't know when early this evening is, but it was taking down early this morning.

Please like and subscribe, or just lol.

Why do people think its the cool thing to do to post threads in the CS forum like: LOL @ ZOS.

It's not cool, at all. Post it somewhere else, as this is CS, not a place to make fun of the company that fixes your very game.

I would be okay with this post if anything actually got fixed

If this forum had some kind of structure and probably even a general forum, maybe you would have a point.

You know I have to laugh because in some small way I'm hoping that I caused this entire mess....you see, I'm that player that runs through every quest and item and when something goes wrong that I can't work around, in some manner, I screen shot it and do these really nice detailed bug reports. Well, after reaching VR1 and I've become a little more critical and honestly frustrated with the bugs and needless to say my /bug reports are becoming a little harsher and in my last couple I really let them have it with not so nice language. So perhaps they actually read what I had to say and realized OMG we actually should fix this and that.......Hence I have caused the extra down time because they are fixing stuff that should have already been fixed......Or not.....

I do not think you understand the server status post. "Early this evening" means possibly into the late afternoon or "early evening".

Early evening does not mean late afternoon. Late afternoon means late afternoon. Early evening means early evening. If you think it's going to come back up early, I wish I had some of what you were smoking. "No later than" is their way of sticking it to us softly.

Evening technically starts at 1800, so, I would guess it comes back up sometime after 1800. But who knows. Just don't get your hopes up about late afternoon.

LOL, Guys the other night we were all cussin them cause they gave us no time line. Now we are pissed cause they gave us one? Granted it was more than a little vague, but hey, it's something. I think they could refund a month of game time to everyone and still people would find something to be pissed about.

Yea I think ZOS is doing a great job. MMO game servers are probably one of the most complicated computer systems out there. And theirs is the most advanced to date. I'm really surprised it works this well to be honest.

There used to be a place for this in beta, but now it's gone... so here people are. On the one hand I think people b!tch entirely too much and get way to serious, on the other it's very understandable people want a place to vent their frustrations.

+1 but hey all they really need to do is come up with less vague messages that are supposed to keep their customers informed. Posting a message with the complete vagueness of the one they posted only will incite further gnashing of teeth and threads like this one....

    time zone differences?

early morning EST time = early evening maintenence time?

Was wondering about that - tho their first estimate was "by midday," now the update says "oops a little longer, no later than early evening." I would guess they're posting on the same time scale, right? The same midday and early evening, so to speak. Hopefully you're right, tho. I wouldn't call doubling the downtime "a little longer," personally.

Of note to the nitpicky: even if it ended 4:00pm EDT, which is more late afternoon than early evening, that's still doubling the downtime and well beyond a little longer. Vague wording + timezone confusion + lots of time to speculate on forums = let the threadnaughts commence!

I don't think I have ever seen this many fixes tuen into such epic fails by a company before.

So this is your first MMO then? I think I've seen level of buggyness in every MMO start up I've ever played. Some of the guildmates were actually commenting how smooth the first few days were compared to most of the MMOs we've been in (which is pretty much all of them in our gaming community). I remember not being able to patch SWTOR for 2 days when it rolled out, or the EVE Online 'Boot.ini' bug that erased peoples start up boot.ini file if they were using the Windows XP. A few extended downtimes and a little chat lag is pretty mild. This seems like the normal level of whining coming from the ME, ME, ME!!! crowd. The same people that thing it's a personal assault when the internet is down for 5 minutes.

    You and me, both. lol

    Patience only lasts so long.

However, I am 84% willing to grant them their extended maintenance today... but if I go back and my progress is still halted due to a certain quest being broken... all bets are off.

I'm guessing NOBODY here that is complaining ever graced themselves with the "Blizzard Maintenance" during WoW's lifetime? Patch? Maintenance? Expansion? See you tomorrow!

Totally standard affair unfortunately, crap happens. Every MMO experiences it (or card game (hearthstone!!) or a single player that thinks it's multiplayer but really isn't but sometimes it is but most of the time it isn't(Diablo 3))

I'm starting to have flashbacks of WoW's release myself, with the constant "additional" downtime and my desire to really want to play. But hey, I guess I can finally clean up the house some on my day off, before working the rest of the week. Hooray!

Well, it's about half past a freckle now, so it should be up around a quarter till a mole.

They gave us a time line, then destroyed it by saying it would take an additional 6 or so hours. Not a great analogy, but if I told my boss I could get a job done in 4 hours, and when the 4 hour deadline is approaching, tell him I need another 6 hours, you think that would be ok?

I am glad they are fixing stuff, but another 6 or so hours? Hopefully they found some more bugs that really need fixing, moreso than what they posted in patch notes earlier today.

Zenimax has created an entertaining mmo and during downtimes the forums are pure entertainment.

Yeh.. I couldn't go that far. It's reasonably complex code running on some hardcore gear cleverly interlinked.

I'm impressed with what they've done but amazed that it's the more simple things that are turning this launch into a trainwreck. Customer support, silly bot exploits, not band-aiding showstopper quests that have been broken the whole time etc etc. They built this amazing, complex, shiny world - but failed to install a flushable toilet. The backwash is.. unpleasant.

Actually lets hope they are NOT fixing further bugs today because it seems the ones they announced the fix for are giving them ENOUGH problems already, so to ADD more to that would probably see servers back online sometime next
    week....
