I have been playing MMO's since EverQuest launched, and have played most of them. I tried ESO during Beta and didn't make it out of the Starter Area before I quit and said "the hell with this game." Honestly, I did not like the crosshairs as I am not used to it in my gaming history. But sometimes stepping out of our comfort zone is good for our development.

I picked up a copy ESO last week and have been investing time to truly learn the game rather than quickly level to 50. I am overly impressed. I am NOT a Elder Scrolls fan nor have I played the console games. So this really is an unbiased opinion.

It looks to me as if you picked apart the best ideas from other MMOs and put them into this one. I see elements from WoW, AoC, Swg, and so on. It's great. Anyhow, I am not sure where else to stick this post but here are some comments I hope you take to heart:

1) Game is beautiful and not over the top resource intense. I have a PC that is 3 years old and I run lag free most of the time. I have not done large scale PvP yet, but I imagine adjusting some settings will help if I run into lag issues. But back to the initial point, I loved the scenery in Age of Conan, and I think TESO has finally been the MMO to top that.

2) Combat, skills, UI - Having a limited ability bar is amazing. Having played World Of Warcraft since launch I am not used to being able to keybind every single one of my abilities and have them all at my disposal. Now I have to make choices depending on situations. The options are vast and I don't feel pigeon holed in to particular class or spec to perform well.

3) Crafting- This is the reason I played Star Wars Galaxies (and the fact it was freaking Star Wars!) and I literally cried when the NGE hit and basically rage quit the game. I ran the #1 Armor business on my server and I prayed to God another MMO would come along with basically a player driven market like SWG had. Even though crafting in TESO isn't nearly what it was in SWG, it offers a competitive advantage over other MMOs currently. Most might disagree, but in the future I would like to see more resource options (more metals instead of just iron ore for instance).

4) The game is NOT easy. Playing WoW as a new player is just like handing out candy on Halloween. The game has been dumbed down so much it's just like a broom and dustpan to prepare you for your daily chores (Logging in to get point capped, your Sunsong Ranch farm, doing dailies, etc). TESO seems to be so deep and complicated, it blew my mind how *different* of an experience it is from WoW. I get my ass handed to me every day by mobs of equal level or one level higher. Not being simple might deter some subscriptions, but the depth I think attracts some of the older gamers who liked the lengthy grinds behind Everquest. Props!

Thank you for giving the chance to experience this game. Take my money, I just upgraded to the Imperial version for the Horse!

Totally agree with that one. Probably the only good thing about this game.

Wow such an innovative decision. I guess you havent heard about GW2 and TSW
EDIT: Not to mention, 4 classes in 2014? Seriously?

Exept from racial designs there is nothing really new. And after VG and EQ2 to call this system "crafting" would be an insult. There is no AH exept in your guild when it reaches 50+ members. Itemization simply sucks due to crippled class/character system.

    /facepalm
I guess "playing WOW" part says it all.

We didn't need another condescending post against WOW.

    1) Agree, because that is an objective comment, the only one in your post.

    2) This is a result of ESO's shallowness when it comes to slottable skills, it has nothing to do with being 'better'.

    3) Forcing people to craft is NOT a good thing, many don't like it and providing no readily available alternative isn't a good thing.

    4) FACT is ESO is not an iota harder than WOW, you're confusing complexity/flexibility with 'easy', it isn't. Also ESO is new, you mention the WOW dailies, wait till you're at that point in ESO THEN come back and tell us it's better, at this stage you don't know at all.

Please stop patting yourself on the back thinking that being an 'ESO player' makes you superior to those playing other games.

Just to reference some of your commentary, I HAVE played EQ2, TSW, GW2, and Vanguard (and VG beta). The "innovative decision" I CAN credit because I am pretty sure the previous Elder Scrolls were set up that way, and were out before GW2/TSW...

Pretty defensive tone there, I am sorry a quick review offends you. I dont think I intentionally conveyed any message about "being superior."
By the way, I am still actively playing WoW among other MMOs so I wouldn't really call myself solely an ESO player. In fact, I am a 2.4k rated player in WoW, and high rated in TOR and AoC.

I think the real question is why all the haters are bothering with this game in the first place? Kind of silly, really.

Mate...seriously. Whats wrong with your head? Did you even realized what you just wrote?

Now thats actually a good question.
Now lets see. Maybe because i AM The Elder Scrolls fun, and was playing the series since Arena, and the game as it is now is a slap to my face cause someone at ZOS didnt do their job properly? And maybe i still have a glint of hope in me that someone in ZOS will take a hint after thousands of bashing posts and finally will fix the game?

I am sorry if I fail to see what is so devastatingly game breaking that has soaked your tampon to it's limit?

EDIT- Saw you raging about boss farming. Am I wrong or did I read already that after you loot the blue , the loot diminishes for you afterwards? Pretty sure camping happens in all MMOs, unless the dungeons are instanced. Get used it, or come back at off-peak hours.

Let me try and post in the style you do for a sec..

You're saying you are a fan and think this is the worst of the franchises so far, while the entire franchise turned from an actual RPG style where careful thinking and a variety of choices are now a mindless button masher? Not to mention with each simplified title its more and more over-hyped cause the easier it is with lots of rewards, the bigger the appeal nowadays.

Back on topic its good to read one of those rare threads where its not about what this game should be, but rather what it is.

I can only agree with that and want to add something:
    6. The phasing approach taken is interesting. Especially that the world changes based on quest progress. The Ruins where the Undead Curese was lifted becomes save again. The save town in Ebonhart starter Islands becomes a warzone.
It improves immersion by a ton and I have been wondering when MMO's would implement something like that. The closests equivalent I ever saw in a MMO was the Snow Tourtorial Map in D&D Online, that turned to summerwheater after the intro quest was finished. And that is a far cry from ESO.
Only small caveeat is that grouping over different quest progress can be difficulty. But I am sure that will be properly implemeted once there is time.

    7. The game is fixed fast. We are in the second week (11 days) and we can already walk through the entire Starter Islands and first 3 areas with barely finding a bugged quest (even if you had to disable some harder to fix ones). Most games are more bugged years after launch then TESO is in the second week after launch.

    8. Putting friending, guilding, ingoring and the like on account level really helps cut down on Spam and Trolling. When I ignore either of those two groups, I ignore all thier Characters on all my Characters. Rightklick, Leftclick, Silence.
I will propably clean my list after 2 weeks have passed. Maybe some of the trolls repented and the goldspammers might have gotten banned. No point having an oversized Ignore list, only slows down stuff.

Actually Phasing is a big part of the current Warcraft content. As you progress through the content in their current expansion (Mists of Pandaria) the zones change/phase just as you mention above.
Again, it like they took the best parts of other MMOs and put them into this one. Which is ok, its the smart thing to do.
