PUB DUNGEON BOSS'S & BOTS

I never saw the bot problem in pub dungeons when first started playing during early access.

It wasn't until i started an alt, basically to talk like this:
"This one does not have flee's"

But now i see the problem, and im surprised that this has not been dealt with sooner.

Every single new player will witness and see this stuff, and the thread that talks about taking action against cheaters seems to be a work in progress.
It won't get rid of all of them, but it will make a dent.
http://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/discussion/74534/taking-action-against-cheaters-in-eso

1 GM would be able to login, tele to all pub dungeon boss's and see this and fix it all.. in 1 day.
I would shake the hand of the GM who did this, i would try to build a statue in each town of skyrim in his likeness, i would also setup a tab at the local inn and let him use it for forever and pay the bill.

My understanding is that this has been going on for over a week now, in the low pop pub dungeons.

Here is a screenshot of a bot cluster:
botsbossfarm12_zpsd9db2aff.jpg

I reported all of the people in this cluster, and sat around for 30minutes hoping a GM would swoop down in a batman outfit and cast BAN-ULTI on them, but nothing happened.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F6MRAvXwcUo

You can see the real players on the outskirts of the cluster.

The video wasn't loading during preview, so if it doesn't show right away, give it a minute, youtube was probably looking for some music track.

Something needs to be done, but I hope it doesn't require all of us to go out of our way to do what you did in informing the GM's. Glad you did, but I already feel like I'm using up too much time reporting the gold spammers in chat and in mail.

I hope something is done though.

I have reported a few people (after trying to interact with them using whisper to determine that they are actually bots and not just regular players trying to get a hit on the boss and legitimately clear the dungeon - sometimes it can take a good length of time attempting to do that and I am sometimes in a dungeon for an hour or more trying to hit the boss to get the 'cleared' status so I don't like to report people willy-nilly)

It's a bad problem on both servers.

Lol at the bot outside the cluster just hitting the air as soon the boss spawn.

At same time is pretty sad to see ZOS let it reach at that point. Damn, how hard it is to put a GM looking at dungeons and clean this trash? In 1 hour of dungeons browsing i cold ban hundreds of this bots. Just had to wisper one, no reply, ban. reapeat untill cluster clean, move to next dungeon. Doing this for 1 hour a day cold wipe all this bot farmers.

In the Early Access there was campers but they was all humans cuz they moved and we interacted with each other, but this is just ridiculous.

I just sat and watched 5 bots at a public dungeon boss repeat identical actions for 30 minutes straight. They didn't even move once.

Crouch, attack, bash, loot... 60 seconds pass... repeat.
End the tedious inventory management game.

Looks like players who want to grind will now be restricted.

    THESE ARE BOTS.. NOT PLAYERS.

So in an effort to stop bots.. everyone cops a fat nerf.. gg..
This is GW2 all over again.

Well, I think it's pretty obvious ZOS didn't anticipate player behavior here. I think believing that the public dungeon bosses were ever meant to be farmed this way by legitimate players was a bit naive on the farmers part. Name one other MMO with farmable bosses that die in 2 seconds every 2 minutes. You must have realized that gravy train wasn't gonna last.

"Dungeon Treasure Chests – Based on feedback, we are changing treasure chests in instanced dungeons so that everyone gets a piece of loot regardless of who opens the chest. This change is currently being implemented and tested internally and will be released in a future patch as soon as it’s ready. Watch the patch notes for the news."

This is infact one of my complains about group dungeons and im glad they changing it. Thumbs up

The timer in other hand i dont know if it will work. They will sure gonna hurt players that farm bosses, but bots will remain there. they can camp the boss all day. (Just put a GM "on patrol" and clean the trash)

Or maybe they should reduce the drop rate of soul gems from public bosses? Or maybe they should make boss drop's unique, so that once you get that item you can't get a second one until you sell it or destroy it.

Unique items from boss drops might fix this problem. What do you think?
  • LilBudyWizerub17_ESO
Personally, it's fundamentally an instancing problem. There may be issues on what these people do to the overall economy, but, right now, the issue is the direct impact on people's game play. So the first thing is just get them out of sight. Tune the instancing so people in an instance for hours end up in an instance with just themselves and others that have been there for hours as well. As it is it's accumulating these people. The specifics of the instancing seems to make it a worse problem rather than minimizing the impact on players. That should be an easy problem to fix. Just expire the damn instance. After it's been occupied non-stop for an hour add no more players to it. That's a simple solution and it should, nearly completely, resolve most people's complaints.

Isolating these people in an instance by themselves and others like them is the easiest way to profile them so you can identify them programmatically. If it's been 12 hours since you last added a player to the instance then chances are it's a bot. It's a bit beyond most humans endurance. The rare real player that would do that is easy to separate out from the bots. They get bored and do other crap. Just run around and kill some other mobs to break the monotony. They get distracted, fatigued, miss attacking the boss at all. They lack the consistency of a bot over long stretches.

All those suggestions would defeat the purpose of it being public.
What's stopping them from making a bot program to level them up to run the dungeons over and over per character.

What would you say if you were playing the game with friends, and you got a unique that yer friend would want but you can't trade it.

Soulgem drop rate nerfs would just hurt everyone.

Every single avenue where a change is made that effects everyone and not aimed at the bots only, will be a problem in some form.
If they are specifically changing something because of bots.. then why can't they do it without effecting everyone else?

If they just got a couple of GM's every couple of weeks, to patrol these places..
Or the GM's were a team of people who were dedicated to eliminating this mess..
They would get priority over the cheating reports, and be able to instantly be there..
    Everyone would be better off.

But no.. they need to nerf everything first.. then put in automation things to stop everything and cause more problems.

They are bots.. they are not hard to spot..

Good points. A GM to patrol those places would be nice.

I guess the game is still in it's infancy and will take some times for them to reduce the botters.

It's a shame that these people ruin a good game. How selfish.

    phase/instance dungeons. end of story.
Or hire better GM's who do their job instead of sending out those stupid generic emails.

How would phase/instance dungeons fix anything?
Are you talking being able to get a hit on the boss spawn?

Bots still running around the game.

    Another thing..

Alot of bots were centralized in pub dungeons..
Easy to go get them and remove them from the game..

Now a patch to make them go find something else to do..

    I find this completely silly.
ZOS could have gone and wiped out many 1000's of pub bots.. just by actively going and looking for them, and being able to find them in places that were obvious.

Now ZOS will have to hope players report them so you can find them to ban them.
And with how random the ban's are happening, im not sure if players feel safe reporting bots without feeling asif they might get banned for no reason.

I don't know how ZOS can justify, changing a game mechanic, just to suit the bots.
They were all in the same locations.. just go get them, stop changing the game to suit them.

This is what happened in GW2, players left.. players.. not bots..
Bots are still there to this day, they just found other ways to make gold that got in the way of players.. again..
No active GM's in their game either, all automation.

The best part about the treasure chest public dungeons change?

Many of us suggested it in beta....

As soon as we realized they didn't take our advice, that's pretty much all I've done since launch. Farm public dungeons. I knew/know it was going to be changed eventually. But since then, I've farmed up enough gold to buy all bag / bank slots and a 42k gold mount.... on 4 classes....

Not to mention deconstructing everything after that, to quickly level up all my trade skills (and get tons of matts for them).

It's an extremely fast way to achieve all this. Which is why so many people do it. Some people are even getting a second account and camping a level 3 character off in a corner, to make the boss respawn within 10-30 seconds. Easy 10k gold per hour.

    Suggested what?

    To nerf pub dungeon loot?
Treasure chests giving loot to the whole party?
    To not ban pub bots?

IDK what yer talking about, other than it sounds like you were botting afk.
I don't know anyone that can farm like that, except maybe the people who play Diablo3.

if you put a timer on a boss the bots will accumlate there, 50 on one tiny square of tile while that happens u can go and attack boss when he spawns but its dead instantly due to 50 or 100 strikes from those bots, then you, as a player have to wait on the timer? My opinion, just make a gm go on a patrol each instance boss locations see those bots? unleash banhammer, swipe swipe under the rug.

Having bots is understandable. Almost every paid subscription games have them. However, if the bots are too prevalent in the game, then it going to have a detrimental effect. I hope the gm or developer do something about the bots or at least significant attempt to reduce their number, if not I dont think I want to resubscribe to play a game full of bots. If I want to, I would rather play a single player game.

    Agreed.

What boggles my mind is that, the bots were all in the same places..
You could easily go find them and remove them.

Now a game mechanic has been altered and changed to combat them..
Something 1 GM could take care of in a day, and over 1 week.

I just don't understand why they don't want GM's interacting with players against bots.

I get paranoid if I have to kill an end boss more than once (like no loot dropping or didn't even get a hit in)...so I start jumping around like an idiot and talking to those around me.

The bot problem does seem to be getting worse and I hope something is done about it.

I understand some people (non-bots) do stick around to get a few kills, but the end boss is getting harder and harder to hit.

I have stayed an extra few to kill a boss at the end of the dungeon for the extra blue 1h weapon, so i can dual wield them.

And yeah, you do talk and do stupid stuff while waiting.
You don't cram together like peanuts in a jar, sit silently and do nothing until a boss spawns, then repeat.

I guess i expected more from ZOS on battling bots, but they're just doing what everyone else has done, so who can blame them, bots are still on all those previous games who did exactly this.
I just thought that bots all being in the same places time after time, for forever.. would be an ideal situation to actually get rid of them, without compromising the game and real players.

I saw at least 3 different bot trains doing a set pattern in Ondil. They just sat there and farmed Bloodthralls.
