Why no Official Statement on bots and gold spammers?

Just curious. It seems most of the really big issue in the game have had at least some official acknowledgement or statement. For gold spammers and bots farming dungeons or resource nodes (which in my view has become one of the more serious in-game issues), I haven't seen so much as an acknowledgement from ZOS. Did I miss it somewhere?

    Please continue to report any botters, gold spammers, and speed hackers you see in-game, and we’ll continue our efforts to keep them out of Tamriel.

    The problem is there's so many of them I can't even be bothered anymore. I could spend > 10% of play time reporting this crap and tbh that ruins my experience even more than trying to ignore them.

    I know they say to do it, but they don't mean you, personally. They mean the community as a whole.

    No one person should feel obligated to be the ESO Police and report every offender that they come across.

    I report mail and guild invites, the first time I see a particular name. For me, that is just a couple per day.

    The same rule applies to Zone spam. I report them and write down their name. I never report the same person twice, so I tend to only report one or two. However, would rather be at the dentist than watch Zone chat, so I hardly ever see Zone chat spammers. Local chat and yells, that is a different story, I will report them immediately, if I have not reported them already. I have not reported anyone for days.

    I do not report bots standing around boss spawns because there are too many non-bots standing around. As far as I am concerned, ZOS is on their own for that because I refuse to report someone as a bot who might not be a bot. If one innocent person gets banned because I reported them as bot, then I have wasted my time, ZOS's time, and the innocent player's time.

    I have yet to see a resource node farming bot, bot family, or bot train. I am hopeful, though. Whether I report them or not depends on whether I determine that it is a bot and not a human.

    Have to say...as much as I like the game I can not recommend it to anyone till they deal with the bots and gold spammers. Why did ZOS not learn from other games about way to combat them? Frankly do not know I will renew with the way it is.

    They talk big about doing stuff but with no active, as in ingame monitoring, action against bot'ers I would have to say that ZOS has failed. They should have GM's in the public dungeons dropping the ban hammers.

    The problem with the mobs standing around boss spawns is that they take away the play for others. I generally have to wait until 2 to 3 am to even get in on the boss action. No matter how much I spam the boss I can't even get a single hit in before every single one of them has taken him down. I have reported a few of those. You can always tell though who is more than likely a real player and who is a bot. With names like jklghtmmmgk they're probably a bot and more than likely deserve to be reported.

    First 30 minutes after logging in game are usually spent reporting my mailbox full of spam mail and ignoring its senders -___-;;;

    The same guy spammed my game email about 5 or 6 times. I reported him every time.

    Guess what? I don't see spam emails anymore now. I will be reporting every single one I see, multiple times, just out of principle.

    I'm afraid I have to agree with this. People have asked me what I think of the game, and I have no choice but to tell them to wait til this issue is resolved. IMO (as with all things) this is a terrible failure of planning to allow this to happen in what is an otherwise great game. I cannot in good conscience recommend this game to someone where their first "epic battle" is queuing up in line and trying to get in a single hit past the Wall of Farmers.

    I'm sorry. I need to stop this thread right here.

    THIS is the most civilized comment from an OP to any thread I've read on here. And with the game being as broke as it I've spent more times reading these boards than actually playing in game.

    So, no, Endolith; thank you.

    With no easy way to report bots...you have to write down their names because when you go to the report screen it removes you from viewing the game....is stupid. You end up spending more time doing the job ZOS should been doing. Thought we are going to be paying sub fees for them to be doing this work.

    You're welcome :D I do try to be polite in most instances. Raging on the forums never did anyone any good, in my opinion.

    Maybe someone can make a filter addon that blocks messages someday, which triggers when:

    * The username is composed of less than 5 letters, yet 10 or more letters long and contains more than 3 consecutive consonant.
    * The message has too many spaces between individual letters, in example: w w w . s p a m, etc.
    * Part of the message is recognized as potential goldspam, in example the use of a number and dollar signs.
