Zenimax making us a HOAR DER ?

Hi Zenimax Studios,

I appreciate the questing system in this game more than i have in any MMO played before.
But my issue is that the game makes me Hoard every piece of crap that i can pick up.. like a potato ... Today I was trying to clear my bank and bag and found some many singular items that are not worth hoarding.
I like the stacking of item. But after carefully understanding all bag requirements I came to conclusion that the single worst crafting skill of all is "Cooking".
As it stand now, its a Totally worthless crafting skill as
1. I can't sell anything cuz others can make it too..
2. Uses up some skills points where point1 makes it worthless so this is worthless too.
3. Crafting Food takes up almost the Entire bank and Bag inventory space. I found I had 45 or 50 slots used up just for cooking ingredients.

These 3 points made me think and so I decided to drop my skill points in Cooking and delete all my cooking ingredients or vendor them. Voila !! Now all my problems are FIXED!
Just now I checked and I have freed about 55 slots totally from my bag and Bank together.

Seriously 55 slots??? HOw the hell did you guys make up so many ingredients? Why no just put them in one slot? Why do you want us to play the Arrangement of items game? I spend close to 1 hour just figuring out my inventory !
Thats NOT fun at all. It felt like I am an accountant. My wife was laughing at me :(
I lost my entire morning hour time and had to go to work. Instead of have some fun doing a quest or two, I had to manage inventory.

But I am very happy now since I deleted every single Cooking ingredient ..

The Other Crafting Skill close to being this bad is Enchanting.
How many Jajotas and Okus do i really need? So you guys intentionally WANT me to HOARD these Jajotas and Oku's till I reach level 50 right??
Cuz I see no point in using them at all ! I use them and in 2 levels they are already outdated. Whats the point?
Either Make it cheaper or easier to get those things AND reduce the amount of inventory it takes up AND REMOVE the ability of others being able to harvest those nodes without spending a single skill point.

Cooking and Enchanting HOARDER's will need about 100 slots roughly just to have everything in the game probably?

I gave them both up and I am sticking to cloth and Alchemy. Even though Alchemy takes up a lot of inventory, atleast I can use them WHILE i am play the game and not after 5 months when i reach lvl 50 like it is for enchanting.
Very Very very very bad game design for Enchanting and Cooking.
Its a shame cuz the story and questing is fantastic.......
Oh well I am going to wait another month or two and if things don't change then ..w/e

End of Rant
Love,
Fahoom (Argonian Resto - Templar)

Just something or two to consider. The buffs from provisioning are pretty strong. Have you considered using it just for a buff supply for yourself? It persists through death, and blue versions give you two stats, etc. If you stick to only picking up things that are for recipes you know already and want to use then it doesnt take up too much space.

If you ever have extra room and get stuff for recipes you have but don't use, you can often get some moderate gold by vendoring the products.

You can just level it to where you can use the food/drink for yourself, then leave it alone and come back later to level it up again if that works better for your playstyle.

Pick out a couple favorite towns, go there, loot up and find out what recipes they give. Gather only mats for those recipes, cook them up, and keep only the food you need for yourself. Vendor everything else, destroy the leftover mats or plop into the guild bank. Remember, they will always be there for next time. Or next time you'll be at two other favorite towns anyway.

Then go back to quest/exploring until you want to cook again. Levels up quickly, and plus you find new recipes from new areas of quests etc. if you don't have a recipe exchange guild yet.

You hit the nail right on the foot with this one.. delete provisioning and your inventory woes go away.. you just miss out on some minor buffs is all. I get around +90 to a stat with the food I am currently making (when I remember to use it) which is kindof nice at level 12. But it wouldn't be game breaking without it.

My inventory woes wouldn't go away just from that. It would free up a mule for other stuff to hoard but that's it. of course the fact that im still missing all my bank expansions is an issue. man I hope that fix that soon.

Yeah me too. Thats the reason why I had to make another bank alt for all my alchemy stuff that would normally stay in the bank. REALLY hope they get this fixed ASAP

    I sort of agree.

What i did when going back to town after questing is find a cooking fire and craft everything i can, then sell the rest of the cooking mats.
After moving from the starting zone (and only finding cooking mats i cant use, because i didnt care to skill into it) i simply sold or deleted everything i came across...

Im a big fan of autoloot (sorting through everything i loot would take too long), but i wish it wouldnt pick up cooking mats =[

It is true that it takes up a lot of bag space, however, I think in the end it is worth it. In my case, I leveled my provisioning up to 50 right about the time that my character hit level 18 or so (Its extremely easy to level provisioning up to 50). As soon as I hit 50, I ran to the bank, grabbed all my ingredients, and sold EVERYTHING to a merchant. Now, I just collect recipes and a few key ingredients for food that I use.
In short, suck it up in the beginning then reap the harvest =)

The buffs from food are amazing. If you put a lot of points into Magicka then the health boost from food can push up your health by a massive amount. Food in this game I would say is way overpowered but I would never be without it. Thing I have found out by trial and error is to not learn cooking from other factions recipes, its pointless cause they all do the same but require different ingredients and you will soon become so swamped with mats that its hard to find space for them all.

An alternate is to roll an alt and store all ingredients there, this is what I have had to do because I made the above mistake or you can just keep the ingredients for the buffs you need like health, stam, magicka. The blue recipes also give 2 stats a buff, not sure if there is purple tier recipes and what they do.

Ok we need to have loads of things, still like mentioned above the provisioning buffs are really strong and usefull. Same goes to alchemy. Some ppl think it is rather useless, but if you mix the right components together you get potions wich give you Health, magicka and stamina.

They need a crafting storage for all crafting mats similar to Guild Wars or something. High volume storage since it's account wide (no 100 a stack slots and extra rolls over into inventory stuff...something like 1k stack sizes or greater). This frees up the bank to be used for your pets, your hoarded gear, costumes, etc. (Or just a place to put those items you want to research till you can research them.)

You should only really need one created food item for your character. Decide if you want to buff health, stamina, or magika and make that food. That is two ingredients that you ever really need.

    1. Cook all the rest.
    2. Sell it to vendor or in guild store.
    3. ??
    4. Profit.

Additionally, as has been explained multiple times, if you have ingredients for another alliance's food and drink you are just wasting space. Put it in a guild bank, sell it in a guild store, or just don't pick it up.

Bag and Bank space are troublesome!
Having a shared bank for all my characters is crippling my play.
I like to roll alts. I like to experiment with builds and try ideas as well as use the character creator.
If I want to share loot with alts, it becomes problematic, especially with saving crafting materials.

I believe that the Developers should re-assess the motives for a single point bank per account.

With a nod to WoW, having an individual bank per character is very much preferred.

I wouldn't give up on your provisioning. It's a powerful craft and well worth the points and inventory space.

What I would do is decide on the food you like and just pick up the ingredients for that particular recipe. It levels up rather quickly, and there's no need to pick up every food item you find. Hope this helps.

You wanna make some unique gear that almost no one else has? Look up "Tinker Tobin's Workshop". It's in the middle of Eastmarch. Since I discovered this shop I found several others. It seems each zone has their own special shop. One really cool one is in Coldharbor. If you can make this gear then you'll have something really cool.

True, this is not WoW, but Blizzard did work hard to fix shortcomings.
I know Zenimax has the same dedication. I hope they look into bank space and make some changes.

1 shared bank space isn't enough.
