Character frozen can't log in

I was experiencing a problem with one of my characters where every time she interacted with a door that led to a loading screen, the game would disconnect with "An unknown error has occurred." After this happened three times in a row and I logged back in, I decided to go somewhere else and work on a different quest.
That quest required me to interact with a door that ALSO led to a loading screen and this time the game froze. It didn't disconnect me, just froze at the loading screen (I let it sit for about 15 minutes). I force closed the client and logged back in. Any attempt to log in on that character now simply hangs at the "Requesting login" screen.
What should I do now?

AlatarvSoul ShrivenUpdate: I can't log in on any of the three characters on my account. Same thing. I get to the character select screen, choose a character, click PLAY and it hangs saying "Requesting character load."
Obviously I can't submit an in-game ticket, so...
