Crafting feels off.

Crafting seems off in a way

As a plate wearer I've gone with blacksmithing as my 'primary' craft, and woodworking for shields as a secondary

I've spent more time crafting, disassembling, researching, doing actual blacksmith things compared to woodworking. yet my WW skill is higher than BS. Not by much, a couple of points, but it should be reversed in my mind. all i've done in WW is pull staffs & shields apart, research a few shield abilities, and made a few...far less than what i've done in BS.

i've researched way more by comparison in BS, just started researching one of the helm abilities that takes 2 days!!! i've crafted more, pulled more items apart.

feels like xp isn't being rewarded equally for the skill lines.

Also, does completing a research project add xp to the line? if not, it should!

I think they intentionally bumped up XP for Woodworking because no single character uses all three of Shield, Staff and Bow. That makes it kind of a niche profession, and if it were hard to level, people probably wouldn't even bother with it.

I think crafting is great! I love the system. I do all of the crafts across a couple characters. You need a crafting buddy to help. If you DE the stuff you craft you get 75% or 60% reduced inspiration from it. you need to DE stuff other people made or that comes from drops. I am having no problem leveling any of the crafts.

i think you might be right as to it being a little easier / having a lower curve.

everything i've done has been from drops. almost every rank i've gotten in both lines has been solely from de'ing items. this isn't about it being hard, it's not a difficult crafting system, it's about one leveling faster than another despite me putting more time in the other, and if is this way as Eps said, since more classes rely on WW, i can buy that reason.

    nonetheless...does researching something give experience?

I have one Blacksmith/Enchanter and one Woodworker/Clothier, all skill Lines in the high twenties, except enchanting,.
I mainly level by deconstructing loot, sometimes i farm for it intentionally because this is more efficient than constructing, trading, deconstructing. At least while there are levels to be made :)

Enchanting is totally off and a pain to level.
Woodworking was faster for me till about 25, but then the other two crafts catched up again. Maybe it was random, but i felt that there was more woodworking loot than the other profs.
I use an addon that shows IP gained per event and how many events till next level, and from that it looks like they are roughly the same IP wise, again except enchanting which requires a disproportionate amount of deconstructs.

edit: researching does not give IP afaik

now that you mentioned it, i also feel like a lot of the drops i've been getting have been medium / light armor, staffs...nothing a bruiser would use. AND since all of the heavy stuff i have i've been saving to research traits!

    MAN, that stinks!!!

researching should give you IP!! i mean waiting 6 - 48 hours should give some kind of IP apart from the trait you get. that's insane that is doesn't...that should give just as much if not more than deconstructing items. that's why!! i've pulled a lot of items apart for research.

Hope they reconsider that and give something for researching.
