Trading Post

Here is an idea. Zeni are worried (and rightly so), that a global AH will make things worthless. How about trading posts, 1 in each major city that is tied purely to that city. So selling stuff in Davons Watch will only be shown to people visiting Davons watch.

I still would prefer to see player market places, but this seems like a more easily and likely solution to those that don't want to be forced into joining a trading guild. Maybe large guilds could invest in a trading post once per week (1 guild per trading post) and then take a cut of the profits from items sold.

Limit the item levels that can be posted in trading posts to the area's level zone, so again Davons watch would be level 0-14 or something.

Thoughts?

TBH i don't have a problem with how it is handled at the minute, i have a couple of trading guilds im in and have no problems offloading my stuff through them, if you don't want to communicate with group just turn chat off, i don't want to see a global AH as RMT jump all over it and wreck the economy, but i can see what you're thinking, and rightly said if you don't want to be forced into a guild you don't have a market to sell/buy

My only problem with it is forcing me to do something I would otherwise not do. I don't have to PvP, I don't have to Craft, I don't have to run dungeons to get good gear etc... but to sell things at a realistic rate or be a true crafter/trader, I need to join at least one guild.

I would be very supportive of this idea! It would open up a lot more opportunities for people to trade if they don't want to join a guild. It also wouldn't restrict who can view your items as much. And hopefully it would come with a search feature and better sorted categories!

The restriction would come from location of AH and the area's item level. You couldn't post a lvl 50 item in Davons watch for instance.

I think this would alleviate a lot of trading issues without reducing the price of all rare items to a minimal value.

Personally, I would still rather see a player driven market area. With stalls to rent/buy, banners to design for you stall, and players have to actually stay at the stalls to sell. This could also be implemented into a housing system like in EQ2.
