2-player content!!! (pairs/couples)

Just some feedback, questions, and requests for ZOS on PvE gameplay.

First off, there is tons of content for single-player action, namely, questing level 1-50. Among that there are a few bosses that aren't instanced and are most preferably tackled with 2-4 players, but those are rare. Then we have classic MMO content, super cool dungeons, epic delves intended for heroic groups of 4! And then there are Adventure Zone(s) (Craglorn) that are also intended for groups of 4 and give a similar experience to leveling and questing through the main quest zones. This includes boss fights, more dungeons, and monster brutes that are alone too tough for one or two players, making a full group of 4 necessary for simply exploring, pretty awesome I say. And finally, the trials, designed for 24 players to yield epic PvE combat.

Now here's my complaint, there is absolutely NO content designed for pairs (2 people). If you play through the main zones as in a pair, the creatures are ridiculously easy because they are of course designed for one player, making it no challenge which is much less fun. Then you have dungeons, super cool right? But what if I can't find, or don't want to play with a group of 4? Then my one groupie and I must wait till we are at least 5-10 levels higher then the dungeon. Finally, Craglorn and future adventure zones, the exploring is now improved because the NPCs aren't weak and need a 4-player group to do well against, some thing again, a pair is going to have super hard time going through this, and now it's at VR ranks so you can't exactly get "5-10 levels above", so that's a no-go for pairs obviously. While there is PvP that can cater to groups of anything from 1-50, that is PvP, with other players and something that is not for everyone. I'm talking about PvE/questing here.

So why are there pairs playing who can't find an extra two players to make it a full group? First my personal example, I play the game with my wife who I get to sit next to and make strategies and coordinate flawlessly. For me, 90% of the time we prefer to play just with each other. (okay maybe we're a bit anti-social ;) ) There are also many other cases in which the game is played in pairs the majority of the time: Brothers who play most games together (sisters too, and any combo of the two), then there are best friends who prefer to stick with each other to conquer the lands of Tamriel and it's deepest delves. Then of course, I know many couples, be it bf/gf, husband/wife, or any other two people that like to play together.

So what am I asking for? One, feedback from other players of course! But very importantly on top of that, from ZOS. I do not ask for the main quest zones to be harder, or for dungeons to be made easier. That would be absolutely ridiculous and unfair to the people who fully enjoy the existing content in its current state. They are, in fact, very well set up and super epic. What I am very specifically asking for, and not just suggesting, I know ZOS is busy. But we need 2-player content!!!

I even have a few suggestions for pair content, though they aren't all-inclusive of course.
1. Dungeons that are specifically designed and marked as 2-player dungeons. The rewards would of course be less to make it fair to the people who have to get 4 people into a dungeon to complete it. This is #1 because it would be the easiest and most fun thing to implement.
2. 2-player side quests? Perhaps some quests that let you know up front that you should grab a partner if you want to have a good chance to be successful. The problem with these though would be that there would be quest content cut off from the the single-player, but then again, when isn't there 20 people running around you that are wanting to do the same quests? This simply makes it so a pair can go at it alone and have a challenge.
3. For the future, a 2-player Adventure Zone. Obviously this would be far in the future after we have a few to several running AZs. The ratio could be as low as ZOS wanted. If they had say 5 or 10 AZ, they could simply have one 2-player AZ.

Now I don't expect these things to happen right away, ZOS has a lot of things on their plate and have many plans already made. But please fellow players, let them know that we want this so they can put it in their future plans! Even just adding one pair content feature for now and saving the rest for far in the future would be fair, just let us have some content that we need a pair for but that isn't designed for 4 or more.

Wonderful, articulate comments! These have been on the forums for over two years and not even a reply? I play ESO almost exclusively with my wife, and would love to see some content that is not either insanely easy or insanely hard for a pair to complete.

Also, viable 2-player content would open up a whole new avenue of potential builds and playstyles, moving away from the 2 x damage-dealer / healer / tank model.

Another possibility to add to LordDay's suggestions would be the ability to scale the existing group dungeons, which already possess the capacity to be either 'normal' or 'veteran' difficulty, to 'pair' mode.

this may be the greatest necro of all time

it also happens to be a great idea - a 2 man vMA style trial would be a huge hit

This is exactly what i was hoping for when VMA came out i would love to run it with two people team and your not the only one i have a team mate that we do dungeons together and we try to finish vet dungeons and sometimes we need 3rd person for end boss fight but 2 person VMA would be absolutely amazing !!

Can you imagine how many people who are not able to finish VMA would love to do it with another person ? this is what we need !

Agreed! I have been wishing for a 2-man dungeon in the style of the Maelstrom and Dragonstar Arenas.
Why be normal when you can be better?

I will say that this is something I'd love to see, but in the time between now and then, try 2-man/womaning normal dungeons on level. It is a good test for what these 2 person events will be like, truth be told =)

This seems like a great idea! The closest thing me and my wife have done like this is duo the world bosses in craglorn and do the Imperial City quests.

That will be awesome! Also, it will be nice if they made quests steps/dialogues synchronization. It often unclear what quest stages shares between other players in coop and which is not. It was great in SWTOR where even dialogues didn't start until all players was ready (i'm not talking about multiple players in one dialogue - that is beyond).

    A rare double necro appears!

The original idea was good, but you can duo four person dungeons and Craglorn now so perhaps the specific design change is not as needed as it was in the past and it would be better to update the marketing of that content as duo-friendly. I have to say a 2 person version of Maelstrom does sound nice though.

As a, let's say, casual player, I can say that no, we can not duo 4-player dungeons. Not even close :( I know, there is a players who can even do then solo, but that is something that is not fit for everyone I suppose...
