Boss Bot Farmers - Bots camping bosses, anything being done?

Hey,
The only thing ruining my experience with dungeons so far is Bots that are camping Bosses and farming them. I don't have a problem with players farming them but bots simply standing there camping in the same spot and not moving is annoying. I can't get a hit on the boss. I know they are Bots because they are the same level, same armor, same class, never communicate and all have their names as "sdfgsgdf". I saw 5 in this one dungeon, I couldn't report them all because they are standing in the same spot clipping each other.

ZOS should scale the Boss's HP on how many players are near it when he spawns. Or even have 3 spawn when there are 10+ people near it, that would throw people off. Has ZOS spoken about anything being done about these Bot farmers?

At least Gold Bot's you can ignore in the chat or get an Addon to block them. But these farmers don't allow me to enjoy the game and get any loot from Bosses because they die within seconds of spawning.

Has anyone heard anything in regards to this? I hope i'm not the only one encountering this.

Thanks for reading.

With names like "asfgasf" and "sdgrrghh"? There was 5 of them, all looked the same and stood in the exact spot. I watched them for an hour and they never moved anywhere else. Once the Boss spawned, they attack and stand, attack and stand.

they are definitely bots, there are 5 of them in every public dungeon and they interrupt my boss farming.

I see these guys on Del's Claim a lot , these guys have infinite stamina and mana and are constantly attacking at the same spot . I farm bosses a lot but I sure can't compete with bots that could one shot bosses . Something needs to be done fast .

These are gold farmers. And to be honest if there weren't any players buying gold from these sites. There wouldn't be these bots or gold sellers. Players are doing this to the game. Without income the gold sellers would leave. No one buying means no income.

5 of them? are you kidding me? in ruins today there were up to 20 or more, running up and down the stairs aggro and autoattacking every mob that spawned, it was flipping rediculous and no.. it wasnt silent players, they were all perfectly timed with each other

Wait! So you mean to tell me bots can actually play the game, while I, who is not a bot get disconnected constantly?

Best action I can think of is reporting them. The more accounts they lose to bans the more money they lose from buying those accounts.

I spent over a half hour reporting them, which was difficult as they are all grouped together as one entity almost. the only other living player there emailed a gm directly

I had already reported bots in the same place days earlier with the result that today the sheer numbers of them had increased exponentially and their range to autoattack had zoomed up by a huge percent.

i think its a losing battle

reporting them does nothing, their numbers are increasing and zenimax cannot control the situation. you would think in this day and age any company building an mmo would have something to combat this nonsense.
  • thegamekittenub17_ESO
GMs...people from said company that can teleport to situations where there is botting and gold spammers. They can instantly ban upon seeing. A lot of MMOs has these people from their company in game.

I got tired of reporting because my email was literally spammed with ESO's emails thanking me and their customer support surveys. And if I report every bot and gold spammer I won't have time to play the game I will be paying for monthly.

It seems logical for this company to hire some people to put in the actual game to tend to these problems, GMs.

It isn't just bots, tons of players camp them also.
  • thegamekittenub17_ESO
Still, GMs in game could handle this problem and others. I don't farm bosses, but I had to kill a couple more than once because of spawn timer is almost instant and I wasn't about to stand there and die.

But I am not selfish when it comes to gaming. I also don't think bots, gold spammers, and gold buyers/buyers of levels should be pampered in game and nothing done about it.

Bots can easily be made to work on consoles, except if it's not cross-platform servers, then they don't bother with it since so few people are going to play MMO's on consoles anyway.

It's like Linux people saying Linux is way more better than Windows just because Linux can't get viruses (Yes, they can). Truth is, no decent hacker or virus lol'ers give a *** about Linux, so no one creates viruses for it.

each platform has their own megaserver,so it is highly unlikely a gold seller would want to drop $500 on an xboxone,$60 a year for gold and $15 a month multiple times just to try to make minimal returns.. I wont see any on xbox.

Well ZOS by being a subsidiary of Zenimax itself sure does have the deep enough pockets to develop whatever systems are necessary to defeat this. The thing is coming up with a plan that will work, developing it, and implementing it.

It sounds to me like I should be glad i decided to wait for the console version (though I am getting antsy). Someone else mentioned the bots.
Scura di Notte - Altmer Nightblade (gear)
Lalin del Sombra - Bosmer Sorcerer (alchemy/enchanting)
    Angevin Sarkany - Bosmer Dragonknight
Alkemene Velothi - Dunmer Warden (Morrowind)
Sanna yos'Phalen - Altmer Sorcerer (provisioning)
    Cosima di Mattina -Altmer Sorcerer
    Naria Andrano - Dunmer Templar
Luca della Serata - Redguard Templar

I don't mind losing the $60 pc version I have, and im going to upgrade to the imperial on xbox.I know there will be considerably less people on xbox, but that shouldn't be a problem seeing as eso plays mostly like a single player game anyways and no bots!

There are a few ways to deal with this problem. I've played MMOs a long time and seen this kill a game fast.

There is in game GMs from said company that can issue instant ban upon investigating a complaint of bots/gold spammers/etc.

There is the dropping of price of things like horses (I have 2 that cost me 1 gold apiece so this isn't because I want cheaper horses).

They can punish gold buyers and level buyers once they weigh out which will hurt them worse in the long run. As a long time MMOer, I can say losing multi subs because of these people encouraging bots and gold spammers hurts worse in the long run and I have seen games die fast from this..including free to plays.

These few steps can and do help. The hardest one is nerfing the boss' loot drops.

I have been saying Game Masters. This one is a slow start but can eventually aide in getting rid of bots and spammers if they apply enough of them in game.
  • Lookoutitsdomkeub17_ESO
I just went to 3 different dungeons, looking to farm the boss for some soul gems. I just reached level 30 and I'd like to get some easy soul gems, I'm not paying for them. When I reach the dungeon boss there are usually 5-10 players standing around, half of which keep spamming the same attack over and over and over whether or not the boss is up. I'm assuming these guys are bots, but I don't know. The last boss I checked out has 20 or more people farming this boss. It was dead the second it spawned, there is NO way anyone, save one or two, are getting drops from this.

This issue NEEDS to be addressed. Make all dungeons instanced, dynamically scale the health of the boss to the number of players around it, something, anything to fix this issue. It is a BIG issue.

Yes I know, GM's will help an MMO, as i've played them and they have aided me many times with bot spammers. Now I did see GM's during the Beta of ESO, about 5 or 6 in Daggerfall at that time. So I hope they are still there.

I just hope ZOS makes these GM's more visible to players and easier to contact them. On this one MMO there were GM's (Game Masters) and GS's (Game Sages), the GS's were under the GM's and had limited power but were able to handle bots while any disputed claims go to GM's.

So there should be two tiers to this to hopefully fix this problem. For instance, in a past MMO that I used to play many years ago, they had a shoutbox on their forum for a specific server, I could easily request a GS to come handle a Bot for me without interrupting gameplay too much.

As @thegamekittenub17_ESO said, I can't report every bot I see due to my inbox being spammed itself. I get 2 emails from every Bot I report, that quickly adds up.

The thing I would like is for ZOS to at least come forward and tell us what steps they are taking, if any at all, about how they will be handling this situation before it gets out of control.

Bots can kill an MMO very easily, and this would be the only one I'd be paying monthly for.

Never played any other subscription based MMO's, and because i'm a huge TES fan, I finally convinced myself to. I usually play F2P MMO's or wait for the big ones to go F2P. Though the Beta of ESO was a lot of fun, until launch came, and in rolled the autobots.

If ZOS doesnt do something VERY FAST they will lose a lot of players.

How damn hard can it be to ban every goldspammer in chat? How hard can it be? Its not hard. It would take a few people a few hours to get rid of them all.

Or is ZOS saying that they are giving out free accounts to goldsellers?

Gradually diminishing returns on the loot a boss drops might help. For example, the first time you kill him you have a 100% chance to get the best item that boss drops, the second time, an 80% chance, the third time a 60% chance etc. This could reset after a certain period of time, like 24 hours.

This would probably be sufficient to meet most players' desire to farm (and patience threshold) while minimizing the returns for botters.

In-game GMs are also an excellent idea, as are stricter penalties for gold buyers and sellers.

I reported half a dozen (of over 50, according to another player's count) bots cycling through an easy quest today. The email replies I got from support were less than stellar... to the point of not even reading what I sent them.

Problem just reporting everyone. How do you tell the bot from actual players?

It isn't the players fault here, it is bad public dungeon boss system that enables the problem. It isn't really an exploit either, as this is how the bosses are set up to work right now.

You don't get the blue tier item on every kills. I stick around usually until I get it once then leave.

If you are a player doing same thing as a bot a) you know what your doing is wrong and b) you deserve to be reported and I certainly will. If you see me in a cave and DONT want to be reported then kindly move on once you completed because you are in my way now and will be glad to report amd have been told to by Zenimax managment. Not staff nor support but actual people running and managing the game do not condone this behavior and flat out told me to report them, bots or not.
