• EU megaservers for patch maintenance – March 9, 8:00 UTC (4:00AM EDT) - 16:00 UTC (12:00PM EDT)

What was fixed in last night's maintenance?

teonimesic
So, last night NA server was shut down for 3 hours during prime time. The only thing we know is that it was done "in order to address some of the issues players were running into tonight". There is no patch note about it, and no feedback as to what exactly was fixed.

I would like to know what was done, and can we expect those issues to never happen again? A little more communication would be awesome. Are banks fixed? Is lag fixed? Is not being able to login fixed? What else?

I think all it was, was to fix lag. As there is still bank problem, vanishing helm and rare fish bugs.

The na server wasn't shut down during prime time, it may have been the time you enjoyed playing but it wasn't prime time.

And nothing was fixed, it was for server performance.

I mean fixed in the sense of it there is a bug, it has been fixed. Lag is a "bug" as it prevents the game to played how it is designed. So you don't simply do a shutdown to increase server performance, you do it to fix lag. But then again, the question still remains, was the 'fix' on server perfomance done in a way we can expect it to not happen again?

8pm on a Saturday doesn't get much more prime.

It was a restart more than likely and more than likely the only 'fix' was that fewer people were around once they opened up again and the fewer people around the less likely something would bug or lag.

Its called voodoo maintenance (or it is now). where they do nothing but give people the impression they do something, nothing specific, but the only 'fix' is caused by reducing the stress. Which they obviously have never been able to fix, even with multiple overflow servers.

Nothing was fixed. It was just made a little more unplayable.

A server reboot takes around 1~15 minutes. Its also pretty easy do give an ETA, because it always takes the same amount of time for a server to reboot. I don't believe they took 3 hours just to reboot it. I actually believe they were investigating and did something in order for it not to happen again. I wanna know what it was.

They GAVE it 3 hours (hoping people would not wait). I never aid they restarted it as soon as they could.

Considering the server is performing as poorly as it was last night (even with not a lot of people on yet) I dont think they did anything.

Conjecture and conspiracy theories but when there is precedence you go with what you know.

If that was the case, they could just give an ETA of 3 hours from the start, because people wouldn't wait for it. But instead, they didn't gave any ETA, so a lot of people kept refreshing the forums looking for anwers, so i don't think this is what happened.

yes,yes it does, but regardless there were no updates, it was for server performance.

I was really hoping they fixed the "Can't attack and move really slow" bug because I keep getting killed because of it...

A single server reboot may take 1-15 minutes, if there are no updates, no long job queues, and no technical issues.

Initiating a reinitialization of a cloud of virtual machines so that they all shut down cleanly with a consistent database state and restart in such a way that no services are exposed before full functionality is assured can take quite a bit longer.

Seriously they need more time then three hours to fix lag, they had a huge server meltdown and had to get it running again. People were getting booted from the game and loosing save data. Seriously though, i cant believe how whiny half the people are on here. I ran into issues last night to. I posted here to let zeni know, and instead i found something else to do. If you didn't expect these problems, why on earth did you buy an mmo at launch. This is my first mmo and i still had more foresight about this then you whiny little buggers complaining you didn't get to play your game for 3 hours. Its pathetic, and your just putting that out for everyone on the internet to see.

More than anything, I want Zenimax to focus on fixing the issues with login and authentication. Once again, I'm on the ESO forums rather than in-game because I can't authenticate. I feel like the authentication system is a doorman and he is just arbitrarily letting people in the club.
