For those who lost their banks: Will there be rollbacks?

Arato

Like many others I lost my bank today, all the extra slots I bought were eliminated back to 60, and the money I'd stored is gone.

I put in a support ticket and the CSR said we'd be getting everything we lost back... but then I had another as of yet unanswered question.. will our account and characters be rolled back? IE should we stop playing until a fix is put into play.

Furthermore.. should I cancel my subscription until this fix is put into play, cause I'm not subscribing when I can't play waiting for a rollback, as it is, I don't like that it is consuming the 30 free days that came with the purchase.

they wont need to rollback your character to restore items, and if you cancel, it wont matter unless you are gone for more than a month. you dont get charged on a % basis if you cancel halfway through a month.

Well I'm just wondering if it takes longer than a month to fix. Did you get official word on rollbacks?

If they do not give you all your things back, same day, through a roll back then I think this is proper compensation:

**PLEASE NOTE this has not yet happened to me**

The compensation for such a bug should be 250,000 gold and an enchanted legendary Void sword, plus a free veteran 6 level alt toon for everyone effected for 5+ days, and for those effected two times they get an extra 500,000 gold. Also give them an extra week of game time, and an apology. This would be sufficient and again this has not happened to me yet, but I believe this is the proper way to compensate these players for being ripped off out of their hard earned money.

    LOL.
I'm sorry, it's just...losing your bank is *** and all, but giving a mountain of gold and a V6 account just because people got affected?
People are already saying that the economy is broken because of the goldsellers and here comes this guy asking for 250-500k gold. Not to forget a heavily overpwoered toon with an enchanted legendary weapon.

People are so silly. They should be lucky if they get reimbursed in the first place.
    Currently playing:
    Swims-In-Sap - CP200+ - Argonian Templar

I like my healing like i like my characters: generic

You don't play often enough to care, and it hasn't happened to you. If it happens to me I'm insta-quitting and demanding a refund.

It sucks for everyone this has happened to, but for now the workaround is simple: don't upgrade your bank. If it happened to me I would strongly consider quitting, too, but what you're suggesting is way over the top.

This kinda *** shouldn't happen in a game that is supposed to be live and fully functional, if they are not going to roll back the characters the least they could do is let us know so we can work back what we lost.

While that guy definitely went overboard, they most definitely should restore the banks, slots, and money (or if restoring the bank slots would cause the bug to happen again, restore the money used to purchase those bank slots), or they do risk losing customers and start having to process demands for refunds on the game.

Just happened to me. I'd spent most of my time building a foundation of alts and crafters and a system of not wasting anything I found while adventuring. Now my bank got nuked and I can't risk putting anything else into it in case it all goes the same way. Halfway through the free 30 days before the 6 month subscription I chose starts, but I can't be bothered to play now with that hanging over me. Gutted...

Are you saying the cause is an upgraded bank vault? Do you have a link that explains this? I'm not doubting you, just looking for info and answers. Last night my character lost: armor/weapons on body, inventory, bank, horse, and skills (didn't get points back either)

Has anyone gotten a response as to rollbacks or not, an official response not their opinion or a guess but a ZOS response of character progress being rolled back to fix banks or not? I'd like to play but not if the progress is just going to get rolled back.

You're never going to get anything back...my buddy just lost 50,000+ gold and all their items in the bank a few days ago(they're craters) and they sent in support tickets and they were answered...days later...generically(Greetings Traveler, etc)...since they can no longer play the game they quit and canceled their sub, I told them to ask for a refund.

Also your inventory can skill can randomly reset to so it isn't just the banks.

I lost my bank and I have not played (more then to check if its fixed) since. I am hearing that people are starting to lose skill points and reasearch with the bank bug now so.... as a person with the bank bug I dont want to corrupt my account anymore then it is now. They have until Tuesday to fix this if not I wil reverse charges on the game costs, cancel the 3 subscriptions from my household. I will also be using facebook and twitter, videos on my twitch account to make sure others are aware of this data loss bug.

All I can say is, IF you get affected by the bank bug, DO NOT re-buy the bank upgrades. That will just make it MUCH more difficult for support to find your original upgrades.

It is clearly a database problem of some sort, and it is something on the back end. I can definitely understand taking a break from playing until it is fixed (because not being able to use the bank properly severely limits your progress), but quitting and QQ'ing all over the internet about it is kinda silly, since we know it WILL be fixed soon.

And I can just about guarantee they can restore everyone who was affected by this to their pre-bug status.

People are quitting because YOU WILL NEVER get those items, gold, skillpoints, etc back. Support will eventually just tell you to roll a new character. My friend lost all his stuff and never got it back and quit.

People are reporting losing skill points and research with the bank reset now so I think it does not matter because my sons account had no upgrades and lost his skill points last night...

Well, like I said, it is a database issue. Something has gone wrong with the back-end database, and a table somewhere has gotten corrupted. I'm sure they have their DBA's going over it with a fine toothed comb right now to find out exactly where the problem is. There is also a reason why it hasn't affected everyone.

But database transactions are always logged, and it's silly to think that they won't be able to restore those that were affected. But yeah, look up how complex SQL databases can be sometime.

Yeah the support email said I'd be getting the lost stuff back, but what they won't answer, what nobody has a definitive answer to, is whether or not characters and all will be rolled back.

This is hands down the worst bug I've ever seen in an MMO launch, and that's on top of all the broken quests, dungeons, etc.

It would be helpful if they could isolate what is causing it...because this actually has only affected a small percentage of players. It hasn't happened to me, nor has it happened to anyone I know (and I've rolled 2 alts so far). I know there are a couple of zones that were bugged and were causing "rollbacks" for people questing in them. I have not done this yet, because my main character is on the Ebonheart faction. But maybe the mere act of questing in one of these "broken" zones has something to do with the issue - something to think about.

All of the people that this has happened to have something in common, maybe if we can figure out exactly what it is, then we can find a way to avoid whatever causes it until they fix the issue. But yeah, I expect to see something happen on this early this week.

Sharing it with the community (like, exactly what you were doing when the bug happened, not just the symptoms of the bug) - where you were questing, what you were doing, etc, might help too.

Btw, they have a new sticky up for this issue now: http://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/discussion/77461/missing-bank-items-bank-slots-skill-point

It's hard to tell from the post, but the language they used seems to me like it *might* be saying that they fixed the cause of the issue last night...and that it shouldn't happen any more going forward, but they still have to fix the people that were affected.

That is no excuse...they have already made millions off the release of this game no doubt. Use the darned money to fix it to there is a game. People will never get their hard earned gold, items, or skills and accounts back...not surprised so many subscribers are already leaving two weeks in if this is what they paid for.

Exactly everyone should quit playing until this is fixed and those effected have been properly compensated(gold, items, weapons returned, plus free game time and bonus gold)
