Answer to Gold Spam :D (Possible to have Stickied somwhere so its not lost? xD)

GM's if u need to u can move this post...but would be nice to have it be seen by the vast majority of people having issues with the spammers


i hope this helps alot of u.......there are 2 addons u can use to block the Gold Sam....1 uses keywords and one adds them automaticly to ur ignore....

BOTH have drawbacks....
Spam Filter can fill up ur ignore list pretty fast....

GoldSpamFilter uses the keywords that they use in their spam.....if YOU say these words ur message become invisible to u as it was blocked from the addon..

Gold sellers are only half of the problem, the other half is gold buyers

true but it cleans chat....THAT is the big problem with players..they dont want their chat filthy and unkempt lol they want to be able to see what others are saying...not a load of spam

A simple solution would to have Game Masters in game. They could throw the ban right there and then. Also they could check broken quests, griefing, and ect.

But Zenimax most likely doesn't have the employees for this at this time.

What it doesn't do is solve the problem by reporting these spammers which is what any good player should be doing for the whole community's sake.

sadly no mmos has GMs in game to govern.....whats funny SWG (since it was mostly Community based) GMs would pop in and turn players into mobs and or spawn stuff and do fun things..now adays.....GMs dont do that

I disagree, the gold sellers are 0% of the problem. 100% of the problem comes from those who are stupid enough to pay for a game, sub to a game, then pay to have someone else beat the game for them. No buyers = no sellers.

I occasionally like to say in /zone: "To everyone who buys gold from these spammers, and I mean this from the bottom of my heart, I hate you....so much....words cannot express how much hate I have for you."

true..this is a temp fix..they MAY add to these the option that auto reports the player....till then this is what we got other then filling up ur ignore list lol

There is another problem with this fix.
Sure, it might block the gold ads in Zone chat, but they also resorted to sending random guild invites with the name of their website in the title. Addons don't block anything like that.
If everyone were to download the addons, they would simply up their guild invite rate and still get their message through.

So is it a fix? Maybe for now.
Will it be a fix later? Doubt it.

SpamFilter rarely ever works, I have only seen it block one person out of all goldsellers spamming crap

Good idea for an add-on but it fails miserably in one very important area. It does not report the spammer which is a very important process. Every player should be reporting every instance of gold selling spam that they come across.
