Aldmeri Dominion Can't Finish Main Story // Reaper's March Griefing // Goldsellers and WW/Vamp Bites

Elunarie
Elunarie
Hello, I also reported these two quests using the bug report inside the game itself, but I would like to draw more attention to them and/or see what workarounds others have found. Basically many of us in the Aldmeri Dominion cannot finish our main story and have not been able to for about 4 days. The reason being:

Motes in the Moonlight is bugged. Shazah will talk to you at the last moonlight beacon, walk up to the stone and appear to begin her ritual.. but nothing ever happens. The dark moon mobs also appear to bug out: they start attacking someone near them then appear to freeze. They become unattackable, and their health stays the same as it was when they froze in position until they despawn (which seems to take about 5-7 minutes). Some people have said they are able to complete it when no one else is around the shrine.

A second quest in Reaper's March is also bugged: Down the Skeever Hole. The Colovian Commander never spawns. I am not sure if he has a very long respawn (over an hour), or if he spawns under the world.. or just never does spawn.

Please especially fix Motes in the Moonlight for us, so that we of the Aldermi Dominion can continue onto Coldharbour. Even removing the requirement to wait on Shazah, and making it so that we can cleanse the stone like we did the other three would be an okay fix for me.

In the name of the Queen,
Ari Scandia

(I know replying to your own post is frowned upon, but given the amount of angry people tonight over the needed lag maintenance, I thought I might give my poor overlooked post a push - it would really be nice to get these quests completed.)

I had the same problem for 4 days, but finally managed to complete Motes in the Moonlight. Key is making sure no one else is around to mess with the spawning mobs. And don't go onto the stairs, ever.
However, this quest is not necessary to continue to Coldharbor, I believe; you get another main story quest at 45. Unfortunately, this quest "MEssages across Tamriel) is ALSO bugged (at least for me). Sent 3 tickets, got either no response, an automated response, or a response that the issue will be forwarded to a specialist team which will contact me very soon. Needless to say, I'm still stuck.

Thanks to two people this quest was managed yesterday.

Going to give a shoutout to Jay and Jam who helped out with it so A LOT of people could finish it.

In essence the area has to be cleared of players by the SW beacon. a suggestion is to meet up by the pillars and form a group. walk up the hill, kill all the enemies and do not talk to the cat before all the enemies are dead. There should then spawn in 3x2 enemies that you need to kill and the quest continues on.

However if there are other players hanging around the mobs do not properly despawn. Yesterday we actualy formed a line which is the firs ever que ive seen in a MMO and it was awesome :)

It then worked under both grouped and solo. However only the ones doing the quest can be there so either a large group or no quest...

Bumping this thread. Spawnsplitters method worked for me and a whole bunch of others just now and is a viable workaround for this bug.

I wanted to really bring this more to attention. There are players who are purposefully "keeping this quest bugged" in order to sell "ports to Coldharbour" for gold. The going price is between 3-10k. Basically they have a higher level standing around the shrine killing mobs to keep it from being unbugged. The "best" part of this scheme is no one really knows who's doing it on purpose and who just doesn't understand or believe that there is a workaround to the bug. This is just one example of con-TROLLing other players, for gold.

Another well known example in Reaper's March are the vampire and werewolf spawns. Pretty much all the locations of the spawns are known. A con-TROLLer (player who makes gold off other's misery) stands around the spawn. They will then charge people gold to tell them the location of the spawn. Sometimes there isn't even anything there and the person is completely ripped off. Sometimes there is, but the con-TROLLer will kill the spawn if they do not get their gold for it. Then of course there are people charging 15-20k gold for a werewolf/vampire bite, again sometimes taking the money and giving nothing at all. Then there are the plain old TROLLS who don't care about gold, and simply kill spawns for the doing of it.

Currently I'm trying to level off mobs to 45, in order to see if I can get to coldharbour just by the Prophet's main quest, instead of the Dominion's main quest. I will then help others to coldharbour for free if it does not bug their quests to do so. Same as I give vampire bites for free, for personal reasons and for my guild's policy of doing it free (Bloodmist guild).

I do understand that this is an MMO and a certain amount of griefing is unavoidable. However.. the community and Zenimax can work together to limit it.

I also want to note that goldsellers are making gold off of all of the above "troll tricks". I have seen them myself passing gold between low level alts at the Dune Wayshrine among other places. PLEASE Zeni, please consider some options to take care of Reaper's March griefing. And other players, realize that when you do this.. you're making the goldsellers richer in more ways than one.

I have updated the title of this topic to better reflect the serious concerns here. A rash of bans, many of which included accounts that were involved in goldselling, makes this even more important to take notice of. This is currently a MAJOR source of goldseller inventory.

So many bugged quests in Reaper's March. I had hoped the patch notes for 1.0.3 would have addressed them but alas not.

I wonder if they will work or remain bugged when I get a chance to play later on today.

Well, doesn't seem to have been adressed atm, over 40 people waiting for it to spawn, to then have some bloody idiot *** it up again.

I've gotten 50+ plus players to purify the SW beacon. Right when there are only 6 people left to finish, there is a mass surge of publics uninformed of this bug rushing in, causing the group to go back to a 24 size large group. It's annoying that there is no GM and this role has to be taken upon a player like me. WHERE ARE THE GM's TO HELP WITH THIS. What is my sub paying for? I really would like to know.

I saw this last night too. Players will rushing in and killing the mobs (screwing up the quest) for people who were queued up trying to do it. Essentially what we have here is a mechanic that Zenimax put into a main storyline quest that creates a situation the griefers can use to sell ports to Coldharbour. Brilliant game design.

@ZOS_JessicaFolsom‌ and community team: any chance we can get any sort of update on a fix for this? You've got a pretty bad situation happening, and lots of vitriolic players spewing hate on the chat channels in game as well.

Attention Zenimax: Stamina builds don't hold up to magicka builds, and this is causing most of your class imbalance. It makes melee weapons and bows weaker than staves and class abilities. It makes medium and heavy armor less desirable than light armor. Fix this imbalance, and you'll address most of your balance issues.

What do you mean? They fixed the bugged rescue-the-Khajit from the gamblers quest in Reaper's March? What else do you want??

Props to notbread on this too. I got there towards the end of when he was helping folks so I didn't benefit but he did get many people through this.

All of these gold sellers need to be banned now and stop disrupting gameplay for other players.

This. I've also gotten whispers from players telling me the secret to completing it is to stand there and kill the mobs until the quest works, even if it takes hours. Essentially, they're trying to co-opt others into trying to help them keep the quest broken.

This whole fiasco is a lesson in why tiny closed betas of well behaved people simply don't find the load and griefing issues that plague live games.

Yeah we can call it a beta issue but the issue with this quest and the obstructions to completion with what we know now is with the player base. Those people who refuse to listen or cooperate. Those people who like to exploit the situation for personal gain. They are a real problem, and likely the same people who spend a lot of time on here slating the devs for the problem halting progression and calling the game bad because of it.

This quest does need a fix. An urgent one. I have by no means rushed to my level (44) but I don't want to be stuck in this zone any longer. This quest needs to be fixed and fixed now because I can't have confidence or faith in my fellow players to team up and cooperate to overcome the bug, I also can't stay up till 3am in the hopes the area is clear. I have real life responsibilities that require I sleep... like my job.

We managed to get a completely full group in sync to try this quest -- and it was still impossible. There's a steady stream of people riding in and playing normally. They talk to the NPC, they attack the mobs. They prevent anyone else from completing it.

I suspect few of them are actual trolls. Some are. But most are just victims of a quest designed for one person, yet oddly inserted into a multiplayer game.

Around 2 am PST a couple nights back I was able to get a small group of people who showed up also trying to complete it to group together and follow Spawnsplitter's workaround. The quest unbugged and all 12-15 got it done.

Form up at the archway. Do not pass it. Let the red mobs spawn. Let the spinner or whatever he is that's cleansing the beacon do his thing and kill the agro mobs in the area. Do not assist him with mobs. Once they're dead he'll complete the ceremony.

Look guys you do not need this quest to go to cold harbor. All you need to do is hit level 45 and go to any city. Annoying yes I want to complete it but it is not progress breaking and you do not need a port there.

Thanks for this. I read it was required. Spent yesterday grinding mobs outside the little quest zone hoping for a window of opportunity and I'm nearly 45 now. Yome to get out of dodge.

Given you can't progress and clear the city, Dune is a good place to grind Daedra to get to 45 if you're stuck on this quest. Get regular exp and Fighter's Guild skill line exp while you're at it.

Thnx! I am also stuck in the AD zone because of the quest motes in the moonlight.

Also when i complete the quest "the racer" it just gives me the same quest again..?! And yea i won the race..

And can't find the quest NPC Nethrin for the quest. I see the arrow on my map, but no NPC.. am i missing something?

The AD zone is so broken. Now i have to grind my way to Coldharbour. And i hate grinding.

The frog race quest I thought was turned off. So only motes and the skeever hole quest for me out of the entire zone.
