I wanted to really bring this more to attention. There are players who are purposefully "keeping this quest bugged" in order to sell "ports to Coldharbour" for gold. The going price is between 3-10k. Basically they have a higher level standing around the shrine killing mobs to keep it from being unbugged. The "best" part of this scheme is no one really knows who's doing it on purpose and who just doesn't understand or believe that there is a workaround to the bug. This is just one example of con-TROLLing other players, for gold.

I wonder if they will work or remain bugged when I get a chance to play later on today.
I've gotten 50+ plus players to purify the SW beacon. Right when there are only 6 people left to finish, there is a mass surge of publics uninformed of this bug rushing in, causing the group to go back to a 24 size large group. It's annoying that there is no GM and this role has to be taken upon a player like me. WHERE ARE THE GM's TO HELP WITH THIS. What is my sub paying for? I really would like to know.

Another well known example in Reaper's March are the vampire and werewolf spawns. Pretty much all the locations of the spawns are known. A con-TROLLer (player who makes gold off other's misery) stands around the spawn. They will then charge people gold to tell them the location of the spawn. Sometimes there isn't even anything there and the person is completely ripped off. Sometimes there is, but the con-TROLLer will kill the spawn if they do not get their gold for it. Then of course there are people charging 15-20k gold for a werewolf/vampire bite, again sometimes taking the money and giving nothing at all. Then there are the plain old TROLLS who don't care about gold, and simply kill spawns for the doing of it.
Currently I'm trying to level off mobs to 45, in order to see if I can get to coldharbour just by the Prophet's main quest, instead of the Dominion's main quest. I will then help others to coldharbour for free if it does not bug their quests to do so. Same as I give vampire bites for free, for personal reasons and for my guild's policy of doing it free (Bloodmist guild).
I do understand that this is an MMO and a certain amount of griefing is unavoidable. However.. the community and Zenimax can work together to limit it.
I also want to note that goldsellers are making gold off of all of the above "troll tricks". I have seen them myself passing gold between low level alts at the Dune Wayshrine among other places. PLEASE Zeni, please consider some options to take care of Reaper's March griefing. And other players, realize that when you do this.. you're making the goldsellers richer in more ways than one.

This. I've also gotten whispers from players telling me the secret to completing it is to stand there and kill the mobs until the quest works, even if it takes hours. Essentially, they're trying to co-opt others into trying to help them keep the quest broken.
This whole fiasco is a lesson in why tiny closed betas of well behaved people simply don't find the load and griefing issues that plague live games.
