Maintenance for the week of March 16:
• PC/Mac: No maintenance – March 16
• ESO Store and Account System for maintenance – March 18, 6:00AM EDT (10:00 UTC) - 4:00PM EDT (20:00 UTC)

Why do we only get 5 minute warning for the down time?

Really, it's a bit unpleasant to be told mid quest or group zone that you're gonna bring the servers down and we should just kiss our progress good bye. Have some courtesy, give us 30 minutes of warning, post it for people to see, make it known. Not a difficult concept. Oh yea, and put a damned timeline with it. "Servers are comin down in 5 minutes, log out, we might be back up in the next 14 hours" doesn't cut it.

    I concur . 20 minutes is more polite .

Agreed. This is very unprofessional. The servers were borked for hours. What would 15 to 20 more minutes have hurt?

My guess? an issue that if left unchecked would have escalated and affected many more players .

Use logic. This is not what they want to be doing at midnight on Staurday night. They are doing it because they feel it can't wait.

It wasn't planned. Something failed or buckled and it's being listed as "maintenance".

may wanna read a couple of the other threads here...there is a pretty major issue with gear/skill point/progression loss...im assuming thats why they came down quickly...to 'stop the bleeding'

This isn't how things work in the real world. If i know I'm experiencing issues with my job, I call my other clients and let them know I'm having issues and give them a new estimate on an ETA. That's how the real world works. Sorry if McDonalds shake machine going down is your experience with "real world" scenarios.

They've known about those issues for at least 1.5 hours prior to posting their downtime. This issue didn't just happen in the last 40 minutes. YOU might want to go reread those posts....

    Yeah, you're so clever!

I wager everyone was just sleeping (since it's midnight in US), when suddenly they found 10 developers and 15 QA guys in their offices so they thought, 'wow, if they are in at this late, why don't we do a maintenance'.
Noone could know in advance, you're right.

Yes, I'm sure you've got everything figured out the moment things take a bad turn. You're just THAT good.
