Out of all days to do Maint....

Why out of ALL the days of the week does Zenimax decide to do their Maint on a weekend when most people are off of work and can play freely instead of a weekday like all other mmo's...

This isn't weekly maintenance. There have been login issues that clearly needed a resolution.

Login issues, server lag, banks mysteriously resetting... So much that needs to be fixed. Lets just hope it doesnt take another 16 hours like the last one.

I would have to say there are issues that can't wait to be fixed.

I also hope it is just issues and not a hack attack they are dealing with, but then again, I always hope for that. :D

Ok, the lag wasn't terrible. I was on most of the afternoon and evening and it was fine. If some people are having issues, I'd look on their end first. Yeah, there were some bad loading screens, but a quicklog fixed those for me. Again, if they don't for someone else, look @ their ISP, hardware, etc. first.

If you absolutely MUST do emergency maintenance on a weekend that isn't a "OMG, this is a massive exploit and will totally break the game if we don't bring it down RIGHT NOW!" (for example, the AD players can't take damage or die in Cyrodiil but the DC and EP can) or "THE SERVER IS GOING TO MELT!!!!!" issue, then you do it in the wee hours of the morning like 4AM EDT.

Ok, complaining about unscheduled maintenance for a new mmo tells me one thing...you haven't played many MMO's. This is usual for a new one. I have yet to play an mmo that had the perfect launch (crashes, lag, queues, bugs, etc.). To be honest this shows that they are there to try and repair the game during the times most companies don't have a team doing this. They want their game to succeed and I applaud them for it. I would take a maintenance in the middle of a weekend to fix stability over having long loads and other issues until Monday or Tuesday.

have they posted an ETA of when servers will be back up??? Its the weekend and i can finally play and the dang servers are down.. WTF...

Yes, but it is a NA Server. People join it knowing that maintenance times will be early morning Eastern time. 4A EDT is 1A PDT. Most people are asleep at those times, I know, since I logged in a few days at those times to do some questing/harvesting without having to fight 40 people over the same dungeon boss or Orichalcum deposit. Yeah, there will always be someone on the server or that wants to get on during maintenance, but taking it down at 11P on a Saturday night is silly... I still have 3-4 hours before bedtime yet, and it's looking like it won't be back up before I do have to go to sleep.

No, the servers were melting, it was pretty bad for a lot of people.

We're not complaining about "unscheduled maintenance." We are complaining that a non-gamebreaking issue for many, if not most people (I still question as to whether the people having problems are trying to run this game on hardware below minimum specs or with shoddy ISPs, or GBs of *** downloading at the same time or something, since I'm having no real issues), is the cause of PRIME TIME maintenance. It would be different if they were patching a major exploit (like Cyrodiil population controls not working??!) or something like that.

I dont understand how people can't see why this frustrates most of us.

I work, I have a kid, I get very few opportunities to play this game...Saturday night is one of the few nights I have the luxury to stay up late and play.

Just get it through your thick skulls no matter what the reason it is gonna annoy people and rightfully so.

Just to be clear, tonight's maintenance was unscheduled and is addressing the issues that players were running into including lag, long loading times, problems logging in, and missing items.

Hope this helps clear up any confusion. Thanks. :)

  • gardenia.ren67ub17_ESO
The servers were indeed melting. People who tried to use a wayshrine were stuck with loading screens lasting for 30-45 minutes even after multiple reboots, and the empty bank inventory syndrome is claiming more victims. I also noticed right before the servers came down I could not access my mail. It may be inconvenient but necessary. Otherwise, since when did 10:57 become a "standard" time to do maintenance? Since never. The servers needed to come down before more problems piled on.

That is my gut feeling too.... and if it's been going on for days, there was no reason to bring it down during Saturday night primetime. Heck, Saturday Night Live isn't even over yet. The night is still young, and we have no game to play!

You also have to realize that most Australian players play on the NA server. When America is going to sleep they are waking up. If you do it at the time you're saying you would have a bunch of angry Australians on here. As was said, there is no "best time" to have a maintenance with only 2 servers.

  • bkpiazzab14_ESO
well when an Australian game dev creates and hosts an MMO i will understand when it comes down during our primetime.

I highly doubt that. There have been lots of people complaining the last few hours about not being able to login and load screens that nevergo away.

We have some Australian players in our guild. I am well aware they are in their noon hour on a Sunday. There are quite a bit more things to do at noon on a Sunday than at midnight on a Saturday in most parts of the world... for the simple fact that it is daytime and not dark as heck.

yea I did. Why doesn't it make sense that an US made game hosted on US servers wouldn't prioritize US prime times? It would make sense to me if it was the case with any other country it is simple logic, I dont understand why you would disagree.
