Ignore list cap = rookie mistake

You either need to find a way to deal with the endless flood of spam, or increase the cap (preferably remove it!) on the ignore list. After barely a week mine is already full of gold spammers and I'm now unable to add the latest crop of *** spamming for these sites to the list.

It's to the point now that chat is virtually useless. There's so much garbage from these vermin that you can't use Zone at all at the moment.

The genius that came up with such a low cap should be put in the stocks and flogged.

...Or you just report every goldseller you see and turn off Zone chat. It's not like zone chat is a really important chat to begin with. If it ain't filled with gold ads, it's filled with people raging about broken quests.

Yeah I turned my Zone chat off. Not because of spammers but because I just found it distracting. I like having my guild chat and group chat in separate tabs.

I just reached this point where I cannot add any more gold spammers to ignore. Now my chat is flooded with gold spammers.

I have to deactive spamfilter addon so I would not get the "bong sound" every time it tries to add a gold spammer to the ignore list.

This is udderly ridiculous ... the cap needs to be raised !

You have a point there, to a degree. There are an awful lot of complainers.

On the flip side, there are quite a few people on that are fun to BS with between quests, etc.. and we're not all part of the same guilds. There are also quite a few people who ask legitimate questions about the game that shouldn't just be left out in the cold because of the gold spammers.

It's a shame that we have to abandon one of the bigger parts of the social aspect of the game due to gold spammers and the developer's ineptitude in properly preparing for and dealing with them.

First off, removing the cap would be rookie mistake. Why you ask? Because the more names on an ignore list (aka database) the slower the database works and the more that needs to be loaded into memory. It's not like every time someone sends a chat request it check the database to make sure you can read it, you're system checks the ignore table (loaded to your memory from a database on the server) and then checks the chat against the list in memory. So the longer the list the more of your memory it takes.

Second, you could probably delete your ignore list daily and not see the same gold spammer name. They change names as frequently as their account is banned. Just moving onto the next account, etc. So there is no need to keep your ignore list past a couple days max.

It would be nice if they were to have 2 categories of ignore. Like a temp ignore and perma-ignore. That way you can clear the gold farmers daily and keep the jerks that you absolutely hate on the list.

Side effects of reading messages on forums can cause nausea, head aches, spontaneous fits of rage, urination due to intense laughter, and sometimes the death of your monitor or other object in throwing range. If you find that you are reading forums more than 24 hours a day, please consult your nearest temporal physicist.

You don't need to keep gold spammers on your ignore list for more than a couple of days. Because the ignore is really for a single account, and once it is banned they can't use that account anymore.

Keep in mind these people usually use stolen accounts to do this.

We shouldn't have to "keep" names on the ignore list in the first place - it shouldn't be OUR effort to have to maintain the list, it should be Zenimax's. If they're not going to give a larger cap, then they should be the ones causing the ignore list to clear out as accounts are banned rather than relying on us to do the work for them.

The cap is still too small as it is, when you're going to have ignored players as well as the constant mail/chat/guild invite goldspammers.
