Copying a Character's Appearance

So I spent the last hour or so carefully customizing my first character. Unfortunately however, I accidentally selected the wrong alliance (Imperial Edition woes). Is there anyway I can copy my character's appearance so I can place them in the proper alliance? I don't need to move the character, I just want to copy how they look.

    I like the idea,
this would be SO overwhelmingly and communally helpful!
and the timing is good to put this in effect too!
with them working so hard to fix all the bugs it would
be pretty easy for them to whip this up also and put it in!

There isn't such a feature. But you can take a screenshot of the character you made and then make your 'new' character look like it.

Despite the fact there are many options, they aren't unlimited; therefor it shouldn't be impossible to make a character that looks like the neat one you already made. :cookie:
    I am, therefore I think.

I ran into a similar dilemma nearly 2 weeks ago. Unfortunately you'll have to re roll to re-customize your character's appearance. Look at it this way, if you've done it once, you can do it again.

That's true Vixus, but character creation is such a tedious time sink, I'd rather not have to do it all over again for what's essentially the exact same character.

There is sadly no way to do this.

For some reason you'd think they would. I've seen a few games that will generate a hash of your attributes so you can copy them, but for some reason it's rare.

I wish there were a way to 'save' a character look locally and then reload it into the character creator. Or, lacking that, if they'd give us some numeric values for the various sliders that we could write down. (Perhaps add a tool-tip when you hover over a slider with the value for it's position -- something like that.)

I did my best to recreate a couple of characters I liked from the Beta myself, and now I've gotten into the habit of taking a sequence of screenshots of the character creation screens, showing all the slider positions. With that, it's not too difficult to accurately recreate a look, but it still takes a little time.

One of the (few) things vanilla FFXIV did right was allow you to save your characters as templates. It was fantastic.

Unfortunately (and I know it doesn't help you now :( ), what I've had to do after years of MMOs is just make sure I screenshot ALL the settings for EVERY character before I hit create. :/

Hmm this definitely needs to be in the next update, along with a FoV slider (but that's a tale for another day).

Maybe one day they'll add a feature like the Face Sculptor from Skyrim, where you can pay a small sum of gold to completely redo your character's appearance and rename him.

Would be nice, my lips are too high.

Once I'm happy with a character's looks, I take screencaps of all the sliders so I can repeat them.

Yes, Face Sculptor would be nice :) The first character I've made suffered from the "zoom" bug and she has bit too angular chin for my taste. The second toon - also one small thing I would've change.
But there's something else that botheres me more: every character I've made has a clone! Seriously, it looks like some folks copied my appearance, 'cos I've met few ppl who look almost exactly like me - just small differences: maybe little wider face, longer nose... but the same height, hairstyle, haircolor, adornment and even eyecolor! As for the Bosmer: OK, there is limited number of combinations and it's hard to make really unique one, but the Khajit?!? I've tried to make a nice, "custom" Khajit, and I was really pleased how he finally came out, but guess what? today I stumbled upon a clone!!! Seriously, how it's possible? The same hair (hair style also) and fur color, goatee, even eyes! The only difference is mine has red markings on his face. He really is unique, I haven't seen similar one in any TES game (that is untill today), so I'm asking: how?!? :'(

LOL Streega. It just goes to show that nobody is as unique as they think they are. (except me of course *smile*)

I managed to create a close approximation of my character (perhaps 95% accuracy) but it would behoove the developers to include such a feature in an update.
