Stuck in Nairume's Prison

stefaan.de.wasch1b16_ESO
I encountered a rather frustrating bug. While I was on the the quest A Lasting Winter, I had to enter Nairume's Prison... which I did with great zeal... I mean, I'm an Imperial afterall so I can not have evil things live under Grahtwood. I had to kill my way past a few tough hard monsters but I had the help of an Ice Shade who's name now slips my mind (more on why later on) I was ordered to kill General Endare. At a certain point she splits in two and the Ice Shade freezes one of them, and I bash the other with shield and sword.... But sadly, I lost the fight...

And here's when the trouble REALLY starts...

I released to the nearest waypoint make my way back, but hey.... all she does is talk to me... she refuses to fight. She just stands there... I tried logging out, as the Customer Support ingame isn't working it seems, only to find out that now even the Ice Shade has gone...

Euh... he-e-elp (cries for help echo through the cavern) I know, people on the forum say, log out for a few hours... but well... we kinda pay to play, not to log out, now don't we :)

Seeing as this quest is also needed to finish Fit to Rule (Retrieve Rajhin's Mantle) it is doubly frustrating ofcourse.

So any help would be most welcome... Might I suggest, an option to abandon a step from a quest, and not just whole quests, as this is the end of a long, hard quest chain...

Persiphone, and her scared Monkey

Ditto - major bug and I have hard time beating her as she splits so much

Same problem keeps happening to me. You can tell when it's still bugged by the quest marker not being directly abover gen. Endare's head. Anyway, I have the problem that when she splits, she just starts over with the entry dialogue, only this time my only available response option is "goodbye". At this point it's impossible to engage her in battle. And yes, my frost witch usually disappears too.

Same problem here, but it gets worse. Actually managed to beat her twice. And when i go to hand in the quest i have to go through the next door. And the dungeon has reset itself. Mantle gone from my inventory and I have to start all over again. Im really frustrated now.

Well I eventualy figured out a way to kill her rather easily... if she splits don't kill 1 of them... the other will just split again... so instead bring both down to a slither of health then quickly dispatch both before the last one standing can split again... worked like a charm :)

The quest reset itself today before I ever got into the prison. I haven't yet sccessfully defeated both simultaneously but I have killed one of them at least four times. Now I am worried that it might reset itself again once I manage to overcome the challenge so I'm playing alts until I know: Has this quest been fixed?

Just drop 1 to 10% health, then go in on the other one and bring it down too... this should give you enough room to kill both before the last one can re-clone

ugh. I killed the general like 6 times (because she kept splitting), finally I really killed her and THEN THE QUEST RESETS TELLING ME TO TALK TO NAIRUME. are you f***ing kidding me? 4/25

This one is driving me up the proverbial wall.
    • It's almost as if I'm not getting the visual cue animation for her attacks until after the game's decided that the attack's been completed: result, she ignores all blocks and she ignores all attempts at interrupt. I've tried trying to get to range to use my bow effectively, but even though (thanks to the tiger spirit shrine on the road in) I've got a 45% buff on movement and a 25% buff on damage reduction she (both of her) still move(s) faster than me so I can't keep her away. This makes kiting impossible. I've tried sword & board, but still no joy. I've tried resto, & that was slightly better, but there is a basic problem with her mechanic that ultimately renders it useless.
    • The problem is this: she (both of her) uses charge attacks about 60% of the time. That I could deal with if the ring of hoarfrost was working consistently. However, it seems like every time I get one of her frozen the other one charge attacks & that -regardless of whether she hits me or I dodge- unfreezes the one I've just frozen a second ago, and then that one charges me as well, before my stam has had time to recover enough to allow another dodge. Last one was freeze, get charged by the other one, dodge successfully, start to turn, immediately get steamrollered from behind by the one I'd just frozen.
    • Then, possibly related to the first point above, a chunk of the time it feels like I get out of the red by the skin of my teeth, and then suddenly I'm on my back as if I was still in the red.
    • Furthermore, also possibly related, on three occasions now I've had the shadow vanish & the general walk away while I've still got red in my Ayelid-well-enhanced health bar & I've just taken a pot and the red's filling up, only to have the screen suddenly turn blue anyway and a message come up saying 'You can't do that while dead' -and meanwhile I'm still standing and moving, my health bar's still filling with red from the pot and no 'res here/at wayshrine' or death recap messages appear, and so then I have to relog just to get to the damn res screen.
I wasn't happy with this quest to begin with: a step at level 23 in the middle of a quest chain where everything else is 19? And my NB ranger has rolled right over every troll she's found in the Grahtwood since arriving at level 17, until at 20 she ran into these level 23s in the Winter site: then all of a sudden her hardest-hitting shots are barely registering on these super-trolls' health bars.

And then we get to here and the fact it's a bit of a god inside the general is used to rationalise making the fight completely one-sided. Stacking the deck isn't providing a genuine challenge: it's a cheat, a phony. Godling or no, there still has to be an actual Achilles heel (Achilles was a demigod too).

Having to get both the general & her shadow down to low hp before killing both as close together as possible is a sad joke, it isn't providing any kind of Achilles heel. Logically, within the context of the narrative & the lore, she should be vulnerable while splitting, even if only briefly, not invulnerable.

I'm having a totally different issue with this place.

Has happened to me twice today, and at the same spot both times. Game just won't let me do anything but walk around, while I'm in the middle of a fight with the same group of skeletal soldiers. Can't fight, can't run, can't do anything. I tried reloading and that didn't work. Then ran around some more until the game shot me out to the log in screen. Twice.

    Help?

As of 1/9/2015 this is working properly, at least for me. IF you die, Nairume will disappear so go to the exit door and she'll come back to you. Get the general to a sliver of health for both of her and then gack them within a few seconds. It worked fine for me, and turning in the quest was good too.

This quest is still not working right all these years later. I was playing and managed to beat the general - finally. I'm not happy with that requirement (getting both to a sliver of health etc) but that part worked for the most part. But another commenter had a similar problem to what I had while fighting the general. She does a lot of charge attacks and about half the time the red would go out in one direction and I'd move out of the way. Then without warning she would charge in the direction I'd dodged and knock me down anyway. It wasn't the other one either - it was the one that the red zone had gone out in front of. Why give us the red zone if the enemy is just going to chase us in whatever direction we dodge, disregarding the red zone completely?

After I killed her the next task was to talk to Nairume. Except she walked out the door before I could get to her and I followed her. I found myself back outside the cave, no Nairume in sight. I went back in three times looking for her but she was not there. The fourth time she magically appeared. I put the item on the brazier and blah blah blah, time to go talk to Bralor again. Nairume left and I tried to follow, only to have the door (with the white quest marker on it) refuse to open. At all. I had to escape by going to my house and coming back via wayshrines. At that point I gave up for the evening and will revisit the quest tomorrow. But zenimax d*cked the dog on this one. Have to go do three higher level quests to complete one lower level quest, then at least one of the required quests is bugged. Can't wait to find out how buggy the other associated quests are.
