Why are people taking dungeons so damn serious?

a_thielen_ESO
So far I can't get into a group using the group finder for fungal grotto (dps). And everyone doing grotto is a dps looking for 'healer n tank'. lol. Really?

They should have made these dungeons non-instanced like everything else.

I'm finding some of the bosses hard..... and I'm not talking hard to kill.

I'm talking about trying to get a shot in before the other 20+ people around the spawning area for the boss kill him/her in 3 seconds. It took me ten minutes to get in enough shots to loot the body and claim the victory over a boss in a dungeon last night, and I had my bow drawn and ready.

Been here since Feb 2014 - You'd think I'd be half reasonable at this game by now...

I hope they get rid of public dungeons, I love taking my time to walk through a dungeon. At the moment I feel forced to rush through as there is a million other players rushing by to get to the end.

I did have a good experience last night in one, Crows wood. But there was literally 4 / 5 people in there.

Maybe if they are intent on keeping public dungeons limit the size to just 5 player max.

I like them too, well I like the idea, but not when there is 30 other players there and your on a quest to explore a deep dark dungeon. That is immersion breaking.

At least limit it to 5 players per dungeon max. I can't stand feeling rushed, and seeing people camp bosses, etc...

People fall back to what they are familiar with or what they know has worked in other mmos. Most mmo players are familiar with the tank-healer-dps model. Not really needed ESO's lower level dungeons but again people fall back to what they know. Change is hard. Generally the veteran mmo players will resist going outside the tank-healer-dps box. The old dog-new tricks syndrome. I'm guessing it will be like that when we get to ESO end game too.

No, public dungeons are too easy and not fun. Instanced dungeons require teamwork and strategy.

The reason they have them instanced is cause the BEST loot in there comes from chests that only spawn once per instance. (They need to add some group roll option for this loot tho)

If it was open, people would just camp the chests just like they camp the end boss in the open dungeons.

I like how they have different types, solo, grouped by shared instance, grouped private instance. It allows you three different type of dungeons runs.

As for tanks\healers. Anyone with a restore staff can heal, and anyone with a sword and board and the taunt skill with heavy armor can tank. We did a private instance run with 4 sorcerer and it was a lot of fun.

Sounds so horrible, i guess i'll be forced to do these group dungeons at some point, and chests that don't respawn.....so people just steal all the loot sounds really fun...i wonder which dev thought that was a great idea...next gen game..lol

Yes the chest loot thing is stupid as the first person gets everything so I stay away from random 4 man instance runs cause the tank will run off to loot some chest first and take the loot and then complain if they do not get healed! I recommend staying away from 'random' runs like that until they fix the loot and give a 'roll to loot option'.

I don't understand this thread title. Are you upset that people are only looking for groups that will survive and not become massively frustrating experiences for everyone?

But for the topic at hand, I have no issue with the variety of dungeon types. Almost every complaint I hear about camping seems to be a bit exaggerated.

because people are so stuck in the past and think the only way in gaming is the old way. A group of friends did Spindle yesterday all 14-16 with no healer. A few deaths were involved but given it was our first time there, it was rather successful.

There is a big difference between a coordinated group of friends and a pug. In a pug if you want to complete the best option is the trinity system. Good players in a coordinated group, yeah probably don't need the trinity.

And they wonder why these dungeons are not popular with players, why would i want to go through all that and get nothing...terrible mechanics do not breed a fun experience.

If you continue to have a big problem with this that would mean that there is a shortage of healers and tanks, and my suggestion would be to start playing a healer or tank so you can always find a group.

Yea I play healer and these dungeons are VERY hard you cant carry a group at all like other mmo's. At all even the healer will end up dead a LOT if the group isn't up to par.......Be the healer and take charge I had to.....sucks but yea.

No reason to hurry because the other do so.
Now it you have say one other player who hurry you might need to keep up or fight hard but not if its crowded.
Grinding just make you go in circles.

The problem is that apart from the skill point ZOS failed to give an incentive to do the dungeons multiple times.

I did a few runs for fun, but the XP is horrible and public dungeon bosses give loot faster without any risk.

Spindle is 12-15 so I would really call this a terrible run. I had no single wipe in spindle with all my PUG.

Yup there is good loot, but since it's not needed to level and advance to cap, it and helping guildies falls under my definition of fun.

Not needed in the lower level dungeons of any MMO I've played, but that doesn't mean people can't ask for them if they feel it warranted. After all, how many 4 pure dps groups are realistically going to manage their own damage (roll out of stuff, few self heals, interrupt abilities, etc)?

I'm so glad I'm playing so slow. Only level 13.

I'm hoping by the time I get higher level, most of the frantic spazzes will be bored and gone already, and some bugs will be fixed.

On the other hand, if ZOS caves to all the people from WoW complaining about things being too hard, by the time I reach higher level content it may be nerfed to easy mode.

Here's to hoping for a bright future...
