Can I please have a refund?

Maintenance for the week of March 31:
• [IN PROGRESS] PC/Mac: NA and EU megaservers for maintenance – March 31, 4:00AM EDT (8:00 UTC) - 8:00AM EDT (12:00 UTC)
• Xbox: NA and EU megaservers for patch maintenance – April 2, 6:00AM EDT (10:00 UTC) - 12:00PM EDT (16:00 UTC)

So apparently my roommate was banned for loaning me in-game gold for a mount to keep up with him. We can only assume this as no reason has been given in 3 days. He is NOT a gold buyer/seller and has spent $100 on this game. Its become apparent that Customer Support is not going to reply and wont take out calls. If I can't play with my roommates there is no point to playing. How do me and my other 5 friends go about getting a full refund?

    Yours is far from the only report of being collateral damage in Zenimax's war against gold sellers, sadly.

    That said, you can't seriously expect a refund, can you?

    Yes he can. Why the hell couldn't he? The company made a mistake that he is unwilling to deal with for many reasons. He should definitely get his money back if he wants. He didn't do anything wrong and he is paying a price for it. What world do you live in were a company should have no accountability?

    They should still check into these claims. I have read others as well that are being banned for trading gold with their partners or guild members.

    You would think with such serious punishment to a paying customer that a company would give a reason why and speedy look into the customers that explain the trading of high amounts of gold. There are more reasons than gold sellers for people to trade gold. Meaning..I want the paint horse, fiancé whom I play with has the gold but I don't fiancé fronts the gold so I can get said horse. There is another person that said they were banned for putting a large sum of gold in their bank and getting it on their lower alt got them banned.

    Gold selling is bad. I agree, but when you start punishing the customer without looking into their claim (hey they might be right and actually not breaking TOS) it is bad for business.

    Honestly, this scares me. 200.00 for two Imperial Box Editions, 100.00 For Lore Books deal, 30.00 for two gold horses (Pallies), and still sitting on our bank account 5 days later 30.00 for two monthly payments for sub that wasn't suppose to be charged (It is charged not pending). That is a lot of money to be worried about my fiancé giving me gold for a mount or me giving him gold for mount and risk being banned for it.

    Choose "Account/Billing > I would like to appeal a suspension/ban".

    They will probably also grant you an additional 7 days free game time for being incorrectly banned for gold selling.

    Customer Service is likely slammed beyond their ability to reply, especially since people here seem to have a love of putting in 5 tickets for the same thing.

    ZO was honouring refunds for digital copies purchased through their store, as of 4.7.14.

    There has been some rumblings about a possible 14-day cut off for refunds; asked for official word, I'm sure JessicaFolsom will say something when she can (not tagged cuz an offiical response in this thread would be inefficient, sorry op)

    @Road2insanity777‌ Make sure not to reply to your CS ticket emails unless you specifically are prompted by a CS rep, or are re-opening a ticket that you think was falsely closed. I've seen some signs that replying in other situations will move you to the bottom of the queue, I think it's the reason for a lot of the long wait times but it's all just hearsay. Sorry. :(

    I highly recommend reaching out to their support, every time I had to reach out to them they were very supportive. This sounds like something they have setup to auto stop the gold sellers, not that you or your friend is part-taken in this type of action and I'm sure they'll un-ban the account.

    You live in a house with 5 other dudes or is it 6, cause I am confused.

    How do you know he was not suspended for a valid reason. Dont know but never a good idea to assume.

    OP, you certainly have every right to be upset. And as @KerinKor‌ notes, it would seem that your account is not unique. I also agree with @Wrekkoning‌ that if they did this in error they should be held accountable.

    Definitely try to contact the dispute department, even if you want a refund. Otherwise the refund folks might say your account was banned for gold selling and not give a refund.

I don't remember seeing on the box 'roommate required' he paid for and got what wad advertised and has obviously already used server side resouces. Do you ask for a refund of your meal after you eat half or the first bite. Do you refuse to pay a bartab because your drunk and sleezy friend gets kicked out? Let me know how well that goes.

    Okay the assumption rule works both ways. And if my fiancé couldn't play because of being banned I would also want a refund if they didn't give him a reason or answer his ticket or call him about the issue when he asked to be called.

    And to be honest, I read this and read about two people that were wrongly banned and I have to wonder what is this hot mess I bought into.

    Roommate and/or partner may not be required on the box, but many people play this way.

    Actually he can expect a refund. Why should he be penalized for Zenimax's crap efforts on stabilizing the economy.

    Im not saying he isn't wrong or hasn't told us a lie. I am basing my reply off the information he has given. He bought this game with his friends to play with his friends. If they wrongfully banned his friends their mistake has obviously impacted his game play. Hence they hold accountabilty. Had they not made the mistake if there was one in the first place this message would never have been on a forum. Also you are paying for services here. He has taken nothing from zenimax. Also I don't know where you are from or what forums you have been on... But innocent until PROVEN guilty and look around..... There are hundreds of people complai ing about this same issue. Zenimax screwed up

    How about you try calling support. Your situation is obviously a mistake and could be cleared up if the chance was given.

    I'm sorry that you got hit this way, but I am glad that zenimax is trying to stop the gold sellers. You have to understand that people complain if they do nothing, then complain when they crack down. Let them know what happened. If your friend isn't selling gold, he should have no issues getting access back.

    Extreme reactions without attempting to clear the situation up first, never helps anyone, including you.

    If your room mate has been banned there will be some email informing him of this, and the reason why. I highly doubt that Zenimax will just ban someone without any communication. If that's what he says has happened he's lying, and has probably been legitimately banned and won't admit it.

    Edit to add...you cant get banned for sending someone gold in game....so forget about that being the reason.

    Its been 3 days of trying to get a hold of support through literally every method of contact we have found and are still even yet to be told a reason or get a non-automated response. The gold xfer is the only thing that we can think of, as others have reportedly been banned for that.

    Hmmm. I would suggest you read a bit beyond page one of this forum. It might inform you a bit more on some people that were banned wrongly and why they got banned and it was lifted.

    But then again it is just a suggestion.

    It is so common for those caught and banned to throw their hands up in the air at the incredible injustice of it all. They never know why they have been banned and they have never been informed, they have just been banned for no reason at all....yep ....that it so much more believable than someone caught and banned for doing something they shouldn't, and not wanting to admit to their friends that they were cheating/exploiting.

    Well has zennimax actually admitted this, or is it just, forum posts like.... "yeh I've seen others post about being banned for trading gold and the ban has since been lifted" not exactly something to build a case on.

    I'm not saying mistakes can't happen....mistakes can happen anywhere, but if this guy has been banned, he will have received some communication explaining why. I call into question all those that have been 'unfairly' banned but conveniently received 'nothing' from Zenimax.

    I want to get a full refund too. I even can't play the game, the email with "Access code" simply never showed up in my email. (Yes, i checked "spam" etc /spam filter off/). And i've got all mails with Purchase and Subscription Confirmation in 5-10 seconds!!!
    Yes, the game is GREAT! But i don't want to pay for NOTHING (one more wasted evening... F5 for hours and still 0 mails)

    Only a little hint: If customer service is slammed by repeating tickets from the same person on the same issue, probably you should think about the /bug system and reaction time.

    I think at least once it happened to me too. If you have spam in your mailbox and want to report it, you won't return to your mailbox after reporting. So probably (as happened to me) you forget to delete this mail and discover it again the next time you visit your mailbox and may think, oh f*** again spammed and open a new ticket.

    As there is no overview (or I didn't find it until now) of your tickets and their content, it is easy to report the same issue twice.

    Next point is: You have an issue like not being able to login (happened a few times, that my computer/network by chance was not recognized (even it did not change) and I was asked for a code that was never mailed to me in fact (I control my e-mail servers, I know what is received and what not). So you can't login. You write an e-mail: No response. You request telephone support: No response.

    If one pays for the game it is understandable, that at least he/she wants to use the game. If you wait 2 days for an answer, it is two days you probably can't play. So I don't wonder that you've got ticket spam, as people trying it again, hoping this may change something.

    Faster reactions and an overview of posted tickets and their state would help to avoid ticket spam I think.
