Here is the link, its best buy because I will finance payment options. I got few in my mind already, but would like to see your opinion people.

My Budget is between 800 - 1100 Dollars

Goal is being able to play smooth Massive PvP battles with semi High settings and have above 40 fps at all times.

http://www.bestbuy.com/site/pc-gaming-hardware/gaming-laptops/pcmcat287600050003.c?id=pcmcat287600050003

Looking forward to see your opinions, I appreciate it already.

Sorry that I haven't got any advise regarding a gaming laptop, but I am sure this has to be said at least once:

Are you sure you want to game on a laptop? Do you travel a lot? Otherwise, and I cannot emphasize this enough, buy a gaming desktop.

I agree with Sero. If you dont travel why bother with a laptop.

My opinion is the same stay away from laptops for gaming and run as fast as you can in the opposite direction of Best Buy....

I don't know why people are so adverse to gaming laptops if someone wants one.

Origin PC (most customizable by far with high end components, but more expensive)
    MSI
    Asus ROG 750 series

These are companies that build them with gaming in mind. They have the horsepower and cooling you'll need. That being said, if you AREN'T specifically looking to do ONLY GAMING, then any good brand laptop fully spec'd out should run a game like ESO at medium-high settings no problem.

And me personally I'm on the other side of the spectrum. Yes gaming desktops provide the most horsepower and cooling but you walk into someone's house and you see this gigantic box sitting there taking up space. Sometimes those boxes emit glowing neon colors lol.

Because 90% of the time they buy one expecting to game on it and then find out its a crappy laptop that overheats. And no, any good brand laptop fully spec'd out will not necessarily run games. That being said since you are set on getting a laptop I would go with Asus. Just make sure you look at the specs very closely and read alot of reviews to see if people are having issues.

if that's your budget, build a desktop.

Also you cant upgrade stuff in a laptop as easily as a desktop. Personally I have never had anyone come in my house and go "eww you have a desktop?".
  • Caillronb14_ESO
I bought my MSI laptop from Amazon and it has proven to be a very good laptop. Never overheated and the only time I had to ship it back to be fixed the customer support was really nice and helpful.

My crappy 500$ HP laptop from Best Buy runs ESO on medium-high settings pretty fine. It has never overheated while playing ESO, and only overheated twice the whole 2 years I've had it twice.

I like having a laptop, though I don't travel, because I don't like only sitting in one room in the house and I teach, so have an office at school where students usually don't show up to office hours so I can play games on my laptop instead

The newest gaming laptops out are running the new Nvidia GTX 880M. I'd look to have that in a laptop I would choose.

O and I forgot to mention Alienware in my first post above. Me personally I would spec out a nice Origin PC EON-17.

Just depends on how picky/*** you are about fps and what your game looks like graphically. If your happy with low fps and low settings then yeah a crappy laptop will run it...

As I said, my settings are medium-high and my FPS is fine (I've never noticed a problem).

And this is a two year old cheap HP. The problem is, too many people tie their ego to the cost of their computer and the number of their graphics card.

My Asus g75 kills eso. I'd love to have the money in a desktop but I travel for a living.

I run ESO on high with no problem on my 15" Macbook Pro retina (late 2013) full optioned out. Only issue is a memory leak that causes crashes, but that is a game issue, not laptop.

Buy an Asus gaming series. Forgot the model number of mine, would have to look on the box, but I just bought one and I'm very happy with it. Especially the big fans on the back which are rare for a laptop. The only thing I need to do is eventually upgrade the ram, as it came with a little less than I would have liked.

I am looking at the one with i7, 8 GB ram and 760GTX, is that what you have?

Do you get high settings smooth fps in game including Cyrodiil PvP ?

Please get me details, I am close to purchase this computer.

The only advice I can give is please for your own sanity stay away from Best Buy. I had owned an Asus laptop purchased from Best Buy a few years ago. I had nothing but issues with it, the customer service I received in store was awful. After 4 or 5 failed repair attempts I was finally able to get a refund on the laptop since the "Geek Squad" in store was too stupid to fix my problem. This might be an isolated incident but I personally will never set foot inside a Best Buy store ever again.

I wanted to add that it was a specific Asus Best Buy model that had the problem, so I still believe Asus laptops are great.

    Good luck with your purchase!

    Alienware 14

I used to be against laptops for several years until recently when I started traveling a lot. When I am gone for days, sometimes weeks at a time, lugging around a desktop isn't very convenient so I decided to go the laptop route. I needed something that could handle my current games (mainly Skyrim at the time) as well as my 3d software. I decided on an Alienware 14 and have had no regrets. My FPS is a solid 60 with an ENB in skyrim and usually 45-55 in ESO, with high settings, so it has officially replaced my desktop. Get yourself a USB keyboard and mouse, an HDMI cable for your HD monitor and you are set. It's a bit pricey, but I would stay well away from anything Best Buy has to offer for gaming...you will get what you pay for, trust me.

When you say usually 45-55 fps, does that include MASSIVE BATTLES AT CYRODIIL ?

Very important question for me please test it and let me know if you can

I didn't read the comments before mine - I already know what most of them say.

I am a former Alienware M14X owner, and I will say it got me through my gaming needs. However, since I now own a custom desktop, I will never go back to laptop gaming, and this is why:

I cannot go back to paying a high dollar premium for a laptop just to play my games on while I'm on the go because playing at 1080p at 60fps has spoiled me. I will not go back to compromising textures and shaders to attain playable fps.

As well as OP, I bought my M14X because I was traveling a lot, but just a few months after I bought it, I found myself using it more and more at home, and less and less anywhere else.

I have since bought an Nvidia Shield, mainly because I already own Nvidia video cards. The Shield does everything I need it to do for portable gaming. I don't need to play stupidly good looking games while on the go. So I just got some emulators so keep me busy.

    _____________________

If you are actually traveling and only need a laptop, and you're willing to compromise on high settings for most AAA games, then go for a gaming laptop. Ignore the fuss about "gaming laptops over heat", "gaming laptops are bad" etc etc. They do not overheat. They need just as much maintenance as a gaming desktop. If you actually take care of them, they'll last.

But be warned, there are way more horror stories from people buying gaming laptops than building PC's. If you get a good one that last through the first month, GG.

Just please for the love of Talos, do not buy it from Best Buy. Order from Newegg or Amazon.
