Read about the Green Pact... eesh.

Oh, and I think Oblivion is a poor gauge for any race. That was one game where you might as well have put a bag over everyone's head to keep from gagging.

Agreed. I love the Dunmer, but what that game did to them (particularly males) was pretty heinous. I remember having a mod that specifically went through every single NPC in the game and made their faces a little less... Obliviony.
    Living vicariously through my characters.

    My Girls:
"If you were trapped in your house for, say, a year, how would you pass the time?"

Nephikah the Houseless, dunmer assassin: "I suppose I could use the break. I have a lot of business holdings now that need management."
Swum-Many-Waters, elderly argonian healer: "I think that I would enjoy writing a memoir."
Silh'ki, khajiit warrior-chef: "Would this one be able to go outside, to the nearby river? It's hard to fish without water!"
Peregrine Huntress, bosmer hunter: "Who is forcing me to stay inside, and where can I find them?"
Lorenyawe, altmer mechanist: "And why would I want to go outside in the first place? Too much to be done in the workshop."
Lorelai Magpie, breton master thief: "I'd go nuts. Lucky for me, I have a little experience sneaking out!"
Rasheda the Burning Heart, redguard knight: "I would continue my training to keep my skills sharp."
Hex-Eye Azabi, khajiit daedric priestess: "I suppose it would be lucky, then, that I built a shrine to Mephala in my backyard."
Yngva Stormhammer, nord bandit (reformed...ish): "I hate being inside even when I'm not forced to be. GET. ME. OUT."
Madam Argentia, vampire dunmer aristocrat: "I suppose it would be more of the same. I have a rather... contentious relationship with the sun."
Mazie gra-Bolga, orc scout: "Uh... I'd have to house train my bear..."
Felicia the Wanderer, imperial witch-for-hire: "What Lorelai said."
Calico Jaka-dra, retired khajiit pirate: "This one would like a rest from her grand adventures. Her jewel shop runs out of stock!"
Shimmerbeam, blind altmer psijic: "Provided that I am confined to Artaeum, I do not think I will want for things to occupy my time."
Shauna Blackfire, redguard necromancer: "Sounds like paradise. I hate people."
Kirniel the Undying, cursed bosmer warrior: "I would feel useless, not being able to fight."
Echoes-from-Dragons, argonian who thinks she's a dragon: "All the better to count my hoard!"

(Signature idea shamelessly stolen from Abeille.)

    Oh god, the ugly button!

It took me a year, the addition of some mods, and some helpful suggestions from some modders before I finally manged to learn to make decent faces with that character generator. But, yeah, every race suffered a bit in that game.

What's ironic is, at the time, there were people on the forum who defended the appearance of races/NPCs in Oblivion. They claimed the faces were "realistic," and whenever someone suggested they were ugly, they would say, "We don't need WoW faces ...."

Funny how things never really change.

"Funny that magic doesn't work when a mace caves in your skull."

Playing on a PC, NA Server, since that very first day ...

i dislike Imperials, bosmer, nords, breton, redguards. Sole reason for disliking them is because they all look 95% the same. I don't mean the item visual customization, but rather their racial appearance. They all are human, they are not a different race like clearly seen, khajit and argonians who are visibly different and are not the same in any case.

Just because those human races have different hair styles, there were no need to separate them all out, just put them all together and call them humans. This is sole reason i hate those races. Even Orcs look different. Crap, could make some midget,s dwarves, trolls, any thing that is visually different, but creating 5 races out of human race because of hair style is stupid.

I can't stand the Thalmore, I made a elf in beta and spent most of the time wishing I could kill all the npcs.

Well, the title asked me a question and I answered it. You're allowed to disagree if you want.

I personally am very glad not to have to look at giant cartoon disco balls traipsing everywhere in the game world. It is a refreshing change from EQ and WoW.

Also, how do you define 'realistically' with a fantasy race?
Realistically rendered. You can render fictional items realistically, even though they don't really exist.

I don't "hate" any of the races. I have never played an Argonian in any ES game. They just don't appeal to me, nor did they make sense as the hero in any of the games. Same can be said of Khajiit, too, but at least with Khajiit, I had mods that meant it was a non issue and could somewhat avoid the main story line.

Orc females. They are neither Orc-y nor human enough. That female face with those dumb teeth jutting out in such a way that serves no purpose... ugh.

the male avatars are nice looking tho
