Something needs to be done about werewolf/vampire extortion

At this point, it's griefing/extortion.

Each and every night you will have players roaming around to find the vampire/werewolves, which, if I understand correctly, spawn only in CERTAIN SPOTS. And they just kill them as soon as they spawn.

And then they charge 15K gold for a single bite.

Something needs to be done.

Either randomize the spawns of the rare mobs so that they can't be griefed as easily, or start doing something about the players deliberately killing them to force other players to pay for a bite.

There is a big difference between 'fair competition' and flat-out extortion/griefing. The werewolf and vampire skill trees are supposed to be hard to get as a system, not because a bunch of griefers have decided to abuse the systems put in place to extort the playerbase.

Heh some shady monopoly on vampire/werewolf bites so people can run around role playing twilight in elder scrolls... Dear lord what have we come to.

I don't really see a problem with it. It is game mechanic, players are using it (ofc if they are not using any type of bots/teleports/etc). It is like saying - we shall do something about dedicated gatherers gathering mats - there is nothing left for me to gather. If some players want to dedicate their game time to killing vampire/werewolf spawns - it is their right. As long as their are people willing to pay 15k (!!!) for bite - this will keep happening

It's an MMO, sadly it will attract jerks such as those the OP is referring to.

    /sigh

Of course, this is a gift to RMT, guess Zenimax never considered that.

    Except it's nothing like that.

This would be like people running around and literally making it impossible for you to find iron. They stand at every single iron spawn point and take it instantly so that you can't grab it. You can't break down any weapons, either. No iron, anywhere unless you get in before the griefers do.

If this was happening on that scale, you'd damn sure want something done about it, yeah? Especially if they were then selling said iron for 1000 gold a pop while ensuring that no other way to get iron was available.

The local guild vampire is selling bites for 20k gold. I don't really mind to be honest. It's not like being a vamp or werewolf will make me heavily overpowered. Especially since other threads state that the werewolf form is a real waste at the moment.
    Currently playing:
    Swims-In-Sap - CP200+ - Argonian Templar

I like my healing like i like my characters: generic

I agree that my comparition was a lstretched one, but anyway I'll play along - if enough players will dedicate their entire game time to standing next to possible nod spawns - well, let it be. It is their time they are wasting.

But back to OP - what do you suggest to do? Like increase spawn of vampire/werewolf-trning mobs? Because I doubt anything can be done to the players, that are farming such mobs. Again, my point is - if game mechanic alows smething to be done, and it is not a blatant bug in game (in shich case using such bug will be an exploit) - players can not be punished for using said game mechanic.

I don't know -- part of me says this is how the mechanic works. Vampires should be exclusive and hard to just become one. They should form clusters and groups in the game that you have to work to become part of, like the goth kids at school in some crummy high school drama/comedy show.

On the other hand, charging gold for in-game stuff (e.g. power leveling) is explicitly forbidden and lame.

Not sure which side of this issue I'm on. In the end, vampires are jerks. I'd expect them to demand money to turn you.

I already made the perfect solution in my OP.

Make the vampires/werewolves spawn randomly. Right now they spawn in set spots. That's what makes them so greifable.

If someone is taking all your iron, you can literally just walk somewhere else for it.

If someone is taking all your werewolves/vampires THAT'S IT. There's no walking to another spot. 'No werewolf/vampire for you. P.S. *** you.'

I wouldn't have a problem with players running around trying to kill the vampires/werewolves if they spawned randomly. But so far as I know, they spawn in like four spots on the map. Which makes it entirely possible for griefers to completely deny ANYONE the bite. If it was random, there would be a chance. With a little effort and perseverence, you could get it. Right now, it's a cluster*** of 'we know where they spawn and you can't have them'.

Which I think anyone (except the griefers of course) will agree is unacceptable.

Especially when they're using this mechanic to literally extort players that want to be vampires/werewolves.
