    It would be even better if we had the option to turn off group names and world quest markers.

    Can't stand it. They need to add some of these basic core mmo features in because the immersion crowd will leave once they do the main story.

    Actually the immersion crowd is the majority of Elder scrolls series players. It will be the lemmings that chase after mmos that leave.

    Right it's the majority of single player title players. This isn't a single player game. I don't see single player fans sticking around any mmo for any length of time.

    Elder scrolls fans would. They are still playing the older titles. Hell I am.

    I'll believe it when I see it a few years from now. If the majority of single player fans have kept up a sub for the majority of the time it's out and not just subbed now for a month and then maybe another 30 days each time their is a major content patch I will be shocked. There is a major difference in single player titles and mmo titles in the activities you do while continuing to play after the main story is done. I don't think any mmo will successfully keep you guys playing for more than a month or two every content patch. MMO players form guilds and friendships, they socialize raid and pvp. Single player fans treat it like a single player game and get frustrated when they can't beat something and there are no cheat codes, ruining the game for the real fan base of an mmo.

    There's an easy fix. Have a toggle for it. If you don't want it, dont use it. If you do, then use it. This then caters for two different preferences and therefore should please more people.

    I voted No. I want the option to be able have name plates show up for guildies or friends. At this point if I was running through a social hub I would have no idea if I'd just run past a guildy.

    Id prefer an easier way to tell npc from player only because of people clusterforking around crafting vendors pisses me off.

    I used to miss nameplates but now im used to it. And its created some memorable moments like people running up on mobs they though were players.

    i LOVE it that i can't see who is a mob and who is a player it gives a seriously huge immersion to the wolrd

    All those mobs/players all doing their stuff allroundyou

    Even as an MMO veteran, I find it refreshing there are no nameplates. On the other hand, for practical reasons I do see the need for nameplates.

    Quite frankly, there should be a toggle to allow for nameplates in the core game itself.

    My friend group has the arrows, and that is even getting annoying. No please, but the option should be available.

    It's so easy to scare people without nameplates!!!! You get some really funny reactions when running around flailing like a madman in werewolf form at people.

    I don't play MMOs for immersion, it's something I don't particularly care about, I play it for socialising and competition.
    The option to have nameplates would be very welcome for both these purposes - making both your friends and enemies recognisable.

    Pretty much.

    Im not saying they should force people to see them , but give us the OPTION to turn them on/off.

    Or the fact that it's a forum and a biased sample, with a leading question that biases the sample. It's a good discussion but taking the poll as a real sampling of the population is not logical.

    There are very few occasions like this where providing the ability to choose isn't the better course of action. You can satisfy some of the audience or you can satisfy all of them. This belongs in the meat & potatoes folder right next to key assignments and volume control.

    I agree with the toggle option. Is this something that can be accomplished with an addon? Sorry if that's obvious, I have no clue about the technical limitations of addons.

    If they make it toggable then it needs to be set so that if my toggle says 'no nameplates' then those with nameplates on STILL cannot see mine, only ones they should see are those with nameplates toggled on and npcs.

    Really? the only reason I can see for this is that you are botting, speed hacking, or performing some other type of exploit and want to be harder to report you. One of my first thoughts on the no name plate system was that it was going to be an exploiters dream. This makes you sound like an exploiter. I'm not saying you are but that is the impession that you make with this comment.

    Far more immersion breaking to have no clue who I'm looking at around me, other than a bouncing green bar over their head. When I have to figure out "Wait is that an..NPC? No..no it moved..." Or when running by someone suddenly gives me the option to speak to them I have to stop and figure out if its an NPC or not.

    Hated it since day one.

    Nametags we are easily use to at this point and EVERYONE can have the option to TURN THEM OFF.

    But having bouncing green bars as the only way I know a person, and I have to look up on the screen to read a name. Way way way more immersion breaking than having little text above their head that I can leave on and ignore easily as I do in every other game in existence...

    Or I can turn it off...

    Not sure why we can't have both?

    Why can't we just have Nametags Option? Seriously... this is basic stuff here.

    I myself find that the no name plates / little information is good, being an Elder Scrolls fan ever since I discovered Morrowind for the Xbox (How I Started) then going back to all the old ones showed how it should be really done Single player.

    Being apart of Skyrim's Alpha mod that brought multiplayer to it which is almost identical to ESO was a first step into making Elder Scrolls a true MMORPG. Though the layout is different it brings more veteran Elder Scrolls players to be more familiar to its system.

    ESO was never meant to be a traditional MMO they wanted to make it how the single player world was but to incorporate other players how a real world would be with the clash of NPC's and Players.

    Now for those WANTING the MMO feel there will be addons in the future, there are a few now that add the bars and name plates.

    But in all end the game makes you want to feel like it is you controlling, not your character controlling you ie: moving in a single motion, having no need to really move in combat, to just stand and burn.

    In real life I have 0 problems determining people from merchants. In eso they all look alike. THAT is what npc plates are for.

    And I can already show health bars overhead...
