The EU megaserver is currently hosted in Dallas, Texas. They're planning to move it at a later date. Note, this will require downtime to move and is a big job as they don't have EU datacenter built yet.

Later into evening = more users = more load on servers. That isn't network latency.
I have noticed this as well, the later in the evening it gets, the worse the connection gets because we have to compete with the traffic from the US AND the EU....which is just not acceptable.murklor007neb18_ESO wrote: »You can even tell that the lag is a latency issue as the problem gets worse and worse the longer you play in the evening - ie the more into US primetime it become.
I really hope they get their arses in gear and move the EU server to the EU soon. Very soon. Of course its completely unacceptable for a subscription game not to offer full service for both EU and US customers, ie servers in respective areas of the world. I am not really seeing the result that ZOS said a common datacentre would have so it would be nice to see an article in the future on how great it was and what problems where solved quickly by doing it this way.
I just tried PvP and its horrible. Its ok when you are running around and there are couple of players but when there is a massive battle and everyone is casting and all those catapults and balistas fireing, low settings dont help there, lag is huge. I have r9 280x and on low fps drops to 15 in those battles. Slideshow.

They might not be purely Location related (since US has bad lag too) but the lag from location adds to the other sources of lag, rendering European players at a severe Disadvantage in PVP. It also means we suffer from more lag too, and it is a quality of life issue.GossiTheDog wrote: »The several-seconds-to-hit latency issues aren't megaserver location related - they're other issues, largely.
True, but it shouldn't take more than a couple of hours, they can get the new server set up, with most of the records set up, update the files with a direct download from old server, and start it up.The EU megaserver is currently hosted in Dallas, Texas. Even if it takes you 5 seconds to react it still doesn't matter when that reaction takes 240ms to register on your screen (needs to do a roundtrip from you to the server and back to you) and 240ms is 240ms, it is not 40-50ms! Also 120ms ping in this game i've seen like 2-3 times only, i'm mostly having 170 ping and above.
Last night i logged on, played for an hour or more precisely tried to play for an hour and logged off. Like others here said, it doesn't matter how good their technology is, physics is physics. Unless they learn how to create mini wormholes for the signal to travel instantly from/to.
We want our EU servers. I just hope this doesn't turn out like Neverwinter with regards to the servers.
