I haven't lost items or bank slots and don't know anyone who has. Apparently the bans are happening because people are engaging in activities that resemble that of gold sellers, ie transferring large amounts of gold between characters. You are certain to encounter bugs and there is no guarantee that none of this will happen to you, but I would go for it, it's worth it.
Join us! Years from now we will all be discussing this release, in worst case scenarios, as other games go live. Don't you want to belong to the smug old-timer group of "Heck, this is nuttin, in 2014 when EOS was released they.....".
Maybe I'll even make a T-Shirt.
Best MMO I've played in a LONG time. It revived the same feelings I had when I first played WoW... and I played WoW for 8 years.
The problems you hear on the forums are only from a minority of people having problems. Most of us are in-game and everything is perfect.

I paid for the game and now I can't even play because they never sent me my 30 day code. Apparently I need that to get up my subscription.
