Updates after installing from DVD

I bought the boxed version that came with 4 DVDs. After installing it applied a 1 GB update, then a 4 GB update.
I clicked play and was met with a error 6 message.
I repaired the game and was then met with an additional 13 GB update!
Is that right? After installing the game that came on 4 DVDs, I now have to download an additional 18 GB worth of patches/updates in total? Doesn't seem right.

When doing the repair, it should say verifying. It checks the server to see what's missing and will grab the rest. If anything was missing, it will unpack the needed files. The thing you have to consider is that the version they released could be 2 weeks or so old by the time you received it.0 -
Jermu73✭✭✭I just wondering why they don't make one update file for every new patch they release. Now you have to download all those files and you dont know real update file size's. it going to take days to update eso after couple of months now.0 -
