I'm starting to really hate this game

I've played MMO's for years and to be frank this one sucks. I've been hit by the horse bug, /stuck. The bank roll back bug. The lock picking bug.

Someone up there in Zenimax is really trying to stop people playing. Despite all of that and STILL trying to get into the game I paid to play, despite you rolling back my progress....

I can't. Randomly as some times it launches, most times it doesn't my game is broken. Any solutions please?

I can't believe you released it like this, it's a mess.

I posted in the other thread that running direct from the eso.app is only a temporary fix and leads to problems when they update as the client wont be the same version. See other thread for response.

From the crash report it's just crashing out even before entering the game as there is no location. It is not memory related as some crashes are.

From what I can see they continue to have problems with the rollback areas (not sure where you are now) and now more crash on login problems which was mostly in Cyrodiil before. I think most of this is server-side problems, unless something in the latest patch broke it. From what I can see nothing was changed in the actual Mac client. It looks like that need to resolve the megaserver. It also looks more of an issue on the NA Megaserver possibly just busier, but not exclusively.

Just keep submitting bug reports, make a ticket and follow it up if you get no response in a day. Just reply to the response if it isn't resolved. It's the main option in this situation I'm afraid.

I can appreciate the frustration @Cudward. I also like to play when I can. I think the EU megaserver is not having quite the same problems but there are still issues and some thing not functioning correctly probably on the server-side or network their.

I can see it is not the memory issue from the Mac client and it hasn't changed in the latest small update I think. So, I can only hope they really get a grip on these wider issues soon.

Right that would make sense as it happens in prime time. EU for your records. Yes the game is not launching and I've never been in Cyrodil.

I'll keep reporting, from what I see though....people are having epic meltdowns over the server anyway......So it would appear it is not a mac related issue.

Thank you for actually responding to me clearly :-)

My money is on the bet that they had trouble with the character DB being pelted by countless concurrent login tries tonight. So many transactions, so little time...

As the EU server came up, first the patch wouldn't load, and when it did the client inexplicably cried for an IP authentication again -- but the email with the code wouldn't come. When it finally did, prime time in the EU was in full swing, so suddenly a whole lot of login requests where congesting routers, switches, and DB servers. Several times my characters wouldn't load at all and I was thrown back to the log-in screen with an "Unknown error". When they did load, it took several minutes for them to be placed in the world.

Economically, IT infrastructure usually is laid out for the average expected use case, because it makes no sense to leave expensive capacities untapped for greater lengths of time. You only upgrade when average usage perpetually outgrows expectations.

I appreciate it that they intended to give us the patch with important quest fixes a.s.a.p., but all the small things that happened tonight ended up in themselves being DDOS-attacked by their own customers. But I have no worries and no quarrels, because they will learn from it. Everyone does. o:)

@KhajitFurTrader Good explanation. Sometimes the timing seems a bit mad but then it can't suit everyone even with two Megaservers and it's stuff they want to get out ASAP.

I'm still wondering why they have a scheduled downtime on Sunday though?! And noon for NA Megaserver must be a busy time. Blizzard always have theirs from 03:00 or 05:00 in the morning in the week which seems more sensible and less disruptive.

I'm with you there. I've been through lots of launches and it's always a painful experience but mostly after even a month most of the big issues get fixed. After several they are done. Unless the developer isn't up to it or the issues are more fundamental. The actual game , which is THE most important part of the whole package, is fundamentally great. I feel to a degree that they focussed available budget to that and maybe squeezed other stuff (like forums) which suffered. But I can live with the other stuff being flaky for a while if the actual time in game is this good.

Smoothest release I've experienced. Haven't actually been affected by any of these, not sure if it's due to me being on the EU servers or just lucky. The only thing that has affected my experience with the product is the launcher bugging out, and some crashes in intense pvp.

However I hope things work out for you. I'm sure they're working hard to fix all the issues, most of these you mentioned are not Mac specific afaik.

I was there throughout the whole rift launch from BETA to launch. I think that went smoother. A lot smoother and that ended up going FTP within the year......So I can't say as a SUB based game it's that smooth. The problem is for £9 a month when there are lots of FTP available and it's the way the market is going...with cash shops. They need to get it right, soon before the 30 days is up. Otherwise they won't get people back.

As for scheduled maintenance on the EU server in EU primetime, that there is a game killer for a lot. That needs to be reconsidered ASAP. That worries me, that they don't know the market.

You make some valid points on expectation for a subscription based MMO.

    The actual scheduled Europe Megaserver downtime is not what I would call primetime unless you refer to last evenings which was not scheduled but to basically hotfix/ patch some issues. I think that's reasonable around launch time. The days/ time are from their recent article;
    European Megaserver

    Tuesdays 14:00 CEST

    Sundays 10:00 CEST

They say it should be a few hours.

Tuesday afternoon is work for most. Sunday is starting to impinge on more prime time though not terrible. I do wonder why you could not follow Blizzard with WoW and schedule it for 05:00 though. It also seems puzzling to schedule maintenance on a Sunday which must cost them more for staff I would have though and is also a day when most are home.

There are a lot of people in the forums complaining about various parts of the game, but not a lot of people complaining that things are going smoothly.

I get the occasional dismount in Davon's Watch and Daggerfall, usually in the same location, but overall horses are working fine for me.

I am hearing about lock picking problems for the first time in this thread. I dislike the minigame but am getting better at it. I don't think I have encountered any bugs.

Logging in, getting Early Access, handing the Subscription, getting game updates, and random disconnects are all areas where I have not had any issues to speak of.

I've never had any items go missing from inventory or bank, or at least no items I have noticed, and no roll backs that I have noticed. I used /stuck in the beta, and once in Early Access to see if it still worked, but I have not needed it.

I do take my own personal steps that I think might avoid some of the client, launcher, and login problems. I never attempt to access the game, or even open the launcher, when the server is down. I also try to log out and close the launcher before the server goes down. I never try to be the first person into the game when the server comes back up.

I am not trying to brag or belittle your experience. I empathize with your issues, and hopefully they will be resolved soon.

Compared to other MMORPGs I have played recently right after launch, this one compares pretty well. I couldn't even play SWTOR or FF14 for days or weeks after launch due to server issues.

I've ran into a couple of bugged quests. But so far that's about the worst of it, aside from some annoying screen freezes. But that seems to have been mostly resolved now, at least for me.

@lordrichter I agree with your sentiment. It is usual that forums don't reflect the general experience as players tend to only come looking for help or to sound off. Both reasonable but it is always a minority though they can and do highlight issues which exist but perhaps not experienced by many. And they may be due to many issues not directly to the game at all such as connections or computer problems.

It's nice to see also thread here with the counterpoint with those enjoying and have a good experience. It doesn't mean there aren't bugs to fix but that most will accept a certain level of problem around launch.
Over time that view may change if they do encounter them or they are not addressed. Equally, as things do get resolved then more players are satisfied and enjoy the game as it was meant to be played.

I am going to bootcamp and install it there for now. I love being able to play games on my mac partition along with do other things I want to do but I also payed for this and want to continue enjoying the game so that's where I'm at now. I really feel for those who are having troubles and I know that it will be fixed, it is just a waiting game at this point and I needs my ESO fix.

That's the best bet for now, IMO. The Windows version is having no problems at all, at least on my machine.

It does very much depend on a per player basis. Many players find it working OK for them. There are some know issues with the Mac client notably the memory issue but outside of PvP this isn't a frequent crash and can be avoided by monitoring Memory and restarting the client when it gets close to limits. Apart from the memory issue all the main Mac client items have been fixed. There will be some specific issues but that would be the case in any case.

Many of the issues currently experienced in-game are cross platform and effect the PC client too. In the same way it may work acceptably in Windows, it can also work on the Mac client. But not for all.
