    You activate the 30 days of subscription time by setting up a subscription. A subscription requires a valid payment method to set up.

    It is going to depend on what method you want to use for your subscription plan.

    A lot of services, like Paypal, Credit Cards, or Debit cards will use a pre-authorization function. This is NOT a charge, but it LOOKS like a charge. Your money will be frozen for a period of 1 hour to 3 days, it just depends on the stars AFAIK. :P

    If you want to use any of the online game timecard services, you're stuck paying in advance for your subscription in order to start your 30 day trial.

    Be warned, pre-paid credit card authorizations frequently take more like 3-7 days for pre-authorizations to finish.

    same. enjoy the 20 pointless emails back and forth about how they are "sending it to a higher power" to solve, because thats whats everyone with the transaction not authorized problem is getting.

    There's nothing to do but open a support ticket, sorry. It might take a long time.

    I've never seen or heard of issues with paying subscriptions like these for ESO before. You want us to sub but can't get Visa based authorization to work, this should be a priority before fixing bugged in-game stuff.

    I selected the subscription payment method,but when i'm finishing it give me an error:
    ''The transaction was not authorized. Please check the provided information again or contact support at http://help.elderscrollsonline.com.''

    Great. This brings us back to the original question: how OP can do that, if the proposed procedure does not work: account is debited, but the demand to setup subscription remains the same?

    For whatever reason, ESO is being told you don't have enough money to pay for the sub. You don't have to pay real money for it yet, but if you're not able to, you can't start your trial.

    I know this is frustrating, but only a support ticket can help now.

    Only a CSR support ticket can help then. :( I hope you've already got a help request opened, if not I would do it ASAP because responses can take a while right now.

    Sorry, I know it's a pain in the butt. :(

    ^ This. This is what's pissing people off the most. Calling the bank and finding out the problem was not on the bank's end, funds cleared just fine. Zenimax and their dorked up authentication process is what's screwing a lot of us over right now.

    ***-poor customer service, nearly non-existent at this point. Good luck submitting tickets and phone call requests that are ignored for DAYS.

    this is the issue I am having, not just Visa but with MasterCard as well.... I have tried 3 different cards so far all with the same "Unable to authorize this transaction" message. One is my debit, other is a credit card and third one is a prepaid that I went out and bought to try as I am at the end of my wits. My bank is not even showing any attempted charges to my card/account, so its not even getting to that stage. I verified that the billing info/addresses etc. all match. This is pathetic. Obviously I am not the only one. When I first noticed this I had a CSR who suggested I check all of the above when my bank was available and credited me an addition day, which was nice but I am still having the same bloody issue..... Hope that this is PRIORITY 1 with them, as we all know that a game launch is going to have bugged quests etc. but when customers can't even access their game time it's really bad.....

    I would love to subscribe but it says there is an error with my billing address even tho they were able to charge my CC.... So unfortunately I can't subscribe because they wont let me =/

    I can't enter my Redeem Code. It gave me Invalid Code every time from my retail box. So, ZOS support did it for me, and they claimed it was the right code. Just that that code wont work for me. Tried with several browsers. Now how should I set up a subscription when I can get the Redeem Code function on the account site to work. No direkt link... So annoyed right now.
