Redeem Product Key after $119 = "Error: Requires The Elder Scrolls Online"

mavenmills
I participated in the Beta on a Beta Key that is attached to my account.

After pre-ordering the Digital Imperial Edition from JB Hi-Fi in Australia, I received a code to receive Early Access. I played Early Access up until Sunday using the Early Access Key that was on the pre-order receipt.

After picking up the game on release day (4th April), the Product Key on the receipt does not work. I attempt to redeem through the exact instructions given to me by both JB Hi-Fi and Zenimax/Bethesda. I get the message "Error: Requires The Elder Scrolls Online"

Dear Zenimax Technical Support - please see my support cases, and resolve the issue with my Product Key.

Regards
Stuart

P.S. I should get priority support, because I am being respectful and dignified.

I'm having the exact same issue. I've been playing early access. I used the new code that came in the box with the game from GameStop here in the U.S. and get the same error. "Requires The Elder Scrolls Online."

Look around in the box - is there another code anywhere? Only reason I'm asking is because a guildie ran into the same problem - and the code he was actually entering was the code for the imperial benefits. He had two separate codes with his Imp edition.

I had two codes, one is for game, one for extra goodies. You have to enter the game one first.

Bro! You're awesome! That's exactly what it was. The code as you open the box is for the explorer's pack. You have to take out the 'instruction booklet' and turn it around to it's back. There you will find the code for your ESO

    Hi all,

Unfortunately JB Hi-Fi had screwed up in this instance. They have given me two dockets with Identical Product Keys. I take it both must be for the Imperial Digital goodies.

I have been told by Zenimax that retailers have been given extra codes for circumstances like this where there are mix-ups with Codes.

I have to talk to my retailer (JB Hi-Fi) to get this rectified.

P.S. I got no box. Apparently JB Hi-Fi only sell the Imperial Digital Edition - there is no physical gear. Does that sound right to you guys?

Only EB sold the physical CE in Aus. How much did you pay?

You have 3 codes with the imperial edition:

Game code. This creates a standard ESO account
Imperial code. This upgrades the standard account to imperial edition. You have to have a "standard" account first to apply this.
    Explorer's pack code. Obvious

The imperial edition isn't a different code. It's an upgrade to the standard version.

    $119.00 AUD
I was expecting a proper Collector's Edition - like those for Civ V, Blizzard Games, RIFT, etc. I'm a little disappointed that for $120 (regular Collector's edition price or there-abouts) that I don't get anything Physical.

I got one code at Pre-order - which was the Early Access code - worked fine and great - was able to play until the Sunday extended grace period.

On collection I got Three dockets (receipts) - one had the "redeem instructions" with no code at the bottom.

The other two dockets had the "redeem instructions" (preceeded by garbled printer characters), and then a code. Both of them were identical codes...

I've contacted the JB Hi-Fi store, and they are trying to work something out and will contact me back. I'll let you all know what happens (I'm expecting very bad news at which I will be angry with, but you never know they might actually do their job this time).

Yeah the EB CE was $150, with the stature and book, in future I'd double check as you could have picked up the digital Imperial version from an online seller for about $60.

Yeah, the reason why I don't have what I necessarily wanted, was because my family wanted to get it for me as my Birthday present. They aren't as knowledgeable when it comes to these things

I am just hoping *crosses fingers* that JB Hi-Fi will now understand, and empathize, and supply me with the Code(s) that I am missing, I redeem them as per the instructions, I get my Game, Imperial Upgrade, and all expected Goodies, and then I can continue playing the game.

I'm just worried - is that too much to ask? :worried:
  • mavenmills
I have not been contacted by JB Hi-Fi yet as to where the 'replacement' or 'reprinted' missing game codes.

I'm starting to get a little annoyed by JB Hi-Fi and their lack of commitment on issues they have caused.

I'll update again tomorrow I guess, and unfortunately - No ESO tonight :disappointed:
  • mavenmills
So after a day of no response from JB Hi-Fi, I finally get the response I was looking for.

To my surprise - it was all good news.

They e-mailed me the Product Key that was missing from the original purchase, and then the other Key I had (which in the meantime was confirmed by Zenimax that it was the Explorer's Pack) worked wonders after the missing Code was Redeemed.

Also, I don't know what everyone's problem is with the Credit Card thing and Subscription set-up required before the free time is given...

Mine said $0.00 was to be charged, no fee was charged, and it literally says "After your 30 days has expired, you will be charged on the 9th of May" - that's a month from now if i'm not mistaken.

Anyway, thanks for not flaming guys, and hope my story helps others in the similar situation.
