Lockpicking, what am I doing?

I'd love to really learn how to do it. I've tried from simple-master chests, and haven't succeeded in anything. how is it done?

It actually gives you instructions from the tutorial when you start. Do you have the tutorial info turned on in settings?

Move your pick over a tumbler. Click and hold until the tumbler starts to tremble. As soon as it does, release your mouse button. Repeat 5x.

You have to pay attention for the tiniest little wiggle, then release. If you hold it too long, it won't click into place.

^ (and don't forget that if you hold to long it could also break your pick)

Once you get use to doing it, it moves like a breeze.

But yes, as others said, just click down until it begins to wiggle a wee bit then release.

the thing about the simple and intermediate etc is you have enough time to see it wiggle, maybee miss the release but then you know right where to stop it again next time.. advanced master etc.. much less time to redo them all, maybee 1-2.

You can also right-click just as it starts to wiggle. Makes it a little easier for me.
