I researched "Weighted" on a dagger last night and today I am unable to research anything even though it says there are currently no items being researched.. Not sure what is going on

Dumb question....do you have a sample of what you are trying to research?
• thepuglife
Nothing specific, just anything at all. If you mean a screenshot, i'll attach one.<img src="https://us.v-cdn.net/5020507/uploads/FileUpload/8f/9ff5e59bbe98bb722a9fa78409e635.bmp" />

No, I mean, to research a trait, you must have an item with that trait on it in your inventory. It gets consumed in the research.

...this is going to be a stupid question, but, if you click on the axe, does it highlight so you can research it?

Yes, clicking on the axe and clicking "Research Trait" will begin research instantly, barring any queued researches.

OK, to research a trait, before you do anything at the table, you must have an appropriate item with an unlearned trait on it. Traits are specific to each item. A weighted Axe will only teach weighted trait for an Axe. You will still need a weighted sword to learn weighted for sword. OK, once you have an appropriate item with a trait you can learn, you go to an appropriate crafting table (wood for staves, bows and shields, blacksmith for heavy armor and other weapons, and clothing for all light and medium armor) and click on the research tab (the triangular one at the right). You will see icons of the types of weapons or armor you can research, and one or more icons may have a number next to it. If it does, you can research a trait in that item. Click the icon, then the researchable trait, then in the new window, click the item to use to research, then confirm your choice. 6 or more hours later, you will have learned the trait.

That doesnt answer my question :\ if I had all the items in my inventory and was not currently researching anything, why would it not let me begin the research on anything?

I appear to have encountered a bug as well with my researching traits. Recently skilled up woodworking to research 2 traits. However, I can only research 1 at a time. First research, no problem, ww interface even shows timer and 1/2 researching. Next item, I proceed like the first but when i "finish" accepting the action "Research Trait" nothing happens. The window simply closes and still only showing 1/2 researching.
I am not receiving any error messages. Simply no action.
I have tried fully quitting game and trying again.. nothing.
I have tried waiting for 1st research to finish and try again....still same result.
I am trying to do it with the same weapon type but not the same weapon...not sure if this has anything to do with it. Once again, at least give me an error message somewhere.
So posting here to see if this is an accepted bug or if I am doing something foolish.

Well, it appears it was just the item i was trying. Just researched my second different item. Not sure why the other i could not learn. Was not bound, only the same weapon type. Still clueless why but at least i have 2 researches going now.

I have been unable to research some items, and yes I know how to do it. I have maxed out blacksmithing, woodworking and still cannot research some. I have specifically bought items with traits to research just to not be able to do it. I'm wondering if this is bugged to some extent. ESO people, are there crafting bugs that hinder researching?

Holy necro here. I recommend you post a new topic with a screenshot of what you are trying to research. I have never not been able to research something.
