Am I the only one that thinks feeding as a Vampire is pointless?

Not so meaningfull when you have a restoration staff or heal yourself via siphons or other self heal ability. If that's not enough initiate the fight with the life drain and you will be full health anyway. The lack of health regen is meaningless unless you actualy using a build without any form of self healing and if you do that I pity your party healer.

Feeding should have a significant impact on the game however. As for the shadowcloak it so far proven incorrect I did try it yesterday and didn't manage to feed in combat regardless

There may be a few reasons for this: One if I am not mistaken you cannot both "feed" and use drain essence on the same target. So if you used drain essence at all it will lock you out of being able to feed.

If this isn't the case then you weren't in the right position. You must be directly behind the target with the shadow cloak up.

might try again tonight but so far it refused to work or at least the option didn't pop out

Stealthing up to feed on something is a hassle and I don't have the bat swarm yet, so I feed pretty regularly using the invis->feed method. It's definitely working.
