suggestion: darker nights and darker dungeons

Hello developers. I was just asking if the light could be toned down during night and in dungeons so that it is really dark without magic light or a torch (add torches in the game :)).

Greetings!

You can always turn down the brightness or contrast in-game. But I agree, I'd love it if dungeons and night had more of an affect on actual gameplay functions. The ambiance alone of having to carry a torch around in dark environments would make it feel more real.

I think there is something to say in that, these days, companies are afraid of establishing gameplay mechanics that make the game more difficult. I feel like ESO has gone as far as any modern day MMO will, but it's a far cry from how difficult and inconvenient they were in the past. It's curious isn't it? That inconvenience and difficulty is what gave them so much character and life.

I like the scenery in ESO. Makes no sense to me why they even have a night cycle which hides the nice graphics.

It took me a long time to realise there WAS a night cycle. It's so light it just seems like an overcast sky to me. It needs to get DARK.

Night and day cycle are for immersion to make world feel more living, what it does perfectly wihtout out hiding any of textures depeding of course if you can run eso as is meant.

The devs should make it an option. I don't need a day/night cycle for immersion.

Ok recently I just finished the mages guild quest for the fourth book. In that quest Sheogorath puts you into a 'dark labyrinth'. But it was no dark whatsoever... -.- I wasnt even a labyrinth. If it would be truely dark so that you can barely see anything, that would at least be funny, but i found it no challenge whatsoever.

I really wish we would have more darker nights and dungeons. Also in Cyrodiil it would add a great factor into it if you can scout or attack during night and use the fact that you are almost not visibile from distances.

a deeper night cycle would be nice, especially in PvP, where you wouldn't be able to see very far and thus more exciting when you fall upon an opposing alliance, make magelight more effective too

    Should be optional.

I always hated it in Skyrim for example where you could get mods that made the dungeons alot darker so that you needed a light source.

However, that didn't effect the enemies in the dungeons. They could see you way before you could see them and there they were strolling and minding their own business without a light source of any kind.

If you really want it use /feedback in game so someone from ZOS will read it. In fact, that is just about the only way to guarantee that they will.

dearmor: yes that is a good point. Although certain monsters are probably adjusted to darkness this certainly is not the case for every foe you encounter. But still they could tone it down alot before this unimmersive effect would become visible (or not lol).

    lazarus: good point too.
