Can't even download. Getting blue screen of death when I try to.

I bought the game 3 days ago. Ran the downloader and it got to 24% completion. My computer froze (for whatever reason) so I forced my laptop off and restarted. The next time I opened the downloader it freezes at "Checking Download" and it says it is at 0% and downloading at 0.0kb/s. The size goes from 22900(ish).59MB to 20803.59MB and then freezes at the latter. After a wait of anywhere from 5 minutes to 20 minutes (where it sometimes decreases to 16319.59MB and then 16315.59MB with a good 10 minutes between), it will give me a Blue Screen of Death. After the laptop restarts from that, I repeated the process over and over maybe 30-40 times hoping for a server problem to resolve itself, yet the problem has just continued as usual. Zenimax nor Bethesda will give me a second of their time to respond to my inquiries, so I have no choice but to beg the public for help.

Any thoughts on what may be causing this? I am at a loss. I have tried System Restore a good dozen times to return to my April 2nd state, but that is also a dead end. Running as an administrators doesn't help. Fixing the LAN issue people keep mentioning in IE's internet options is also a lost cause. If I could get a refund, this wouldn't bother me as badly as it does. But as I mentioned, both companies will not pay attention to me.

Any and all help would be greatly appreciated. I really would like to enjoy this game as much as so many people are.

This is happening to me too.

People here had similar issue and the culprit was a faulty memory stick.As far as i know memory problems are at the root of most BSoD errors.

The first thing I would so is to update all of your drivers.

If you're getting a BSOD during a download, I would also suspect memory or another hardware issue. It depends on the BSOD error type, though - ie, "IRQ_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL" has always, always been memory in my experience.

If you are using windows 7 or 8 then run the windows memory diagnostic.

Edit: try doing a disk check. This applies to vista but its the same principle for other versions.

Is the laptop getting hot? If so then try running a fan on it, check vents for dust devils (Clumps of dust or pet hair)

If its getting hot, try putting it on top of the lid of a cold chest freezer and see if it helps. (Not in it, anywhere near ice or water but ontop of the closed lid)

I'm thinking its a disk drive error or memory but without a screenie of the blue screen (can you take one with a mobile), its hard to say.
