Error: When I press "Play" the launcher crashes

I've tried the "repair" button, but no change.
I've tried running as administrator, but no change.
I've disabled antivirus etc, but no change.
I've tried running in compatibility mode too, but no change.

I'm about to investigate running this on my other computer... inconvenient, but worth testing.

I DO have the game installed on a different drive to the OS (I have a system partition and an "everything else" partition. I installed on the "everything else" partition since the game is so damned large)

I'm running Windows 7 - admittedly on a small laptop with no dedicated graphics card :/
