It is frustrating when using an NPC such as a banker and having them say an entire paragraph of the exact same monologue over and over again every time you access them. Once they've said it once, they should just greet you and not act like a crazy ranting person. Example is Angier Stower in Daggerfall. She goes on for awhile about "neither a borrower nor a lender be" over and over and over again.

We must all aspire to better ourselves, to better our person and to better our quality; but no matter how much better we become, no single one of us will ever be better than all of us combined.

It is pretty annoying when you talk to her multiple times within a minute.

If they could just have her say it the first time, or once a day, or something... I mean, I get the point, lady.

I agree with the Original Poster. As a solution...there could be a timer that prevents the NPC repeating a statement within X seconds. Maybe there already is and I just have not encountered the timer as yet.

I partially agree, in daggerfall I get sick of hearing that the guard wants to buy the hero who saved king Cassamir's life an Ale... :/

It's a great sign for a game when the best complaint someone can come up with is "generic NPCs have too few unique dialogs". :)

Oh Lord yes! I can't stand that Daggerfall banker. I want to gag her. I actually put NPC chat in the chat window on (via the Options from that little gear at the top right of the chat window) and turned voice volume way down in Game Settings/Sound just to get rid of her. (And NPC chat in the chat window is also convenient for me because during beta I missed a lot of the echo-ey things Prophet was saying in that big cut scene with the 5 other people in it too.)

But that Daggerfall banker makes me want to roll in a different faction. The khajiit in AD only says "This one thinks you want to make a deposit, yes?" which isn't nearly as bad.

Unfortunately, I'll bet my workaround turning down the voice volume slider is about the only way we're ever going to get to shut those annoying NPCs up.

The Daggerfall banker is actually the only one that has gotten on my nerves even slightly. If she had a few more phrases to pick from it wouldn't be so bad. I like the random chatter that updates as I finish questlines though, and I definitely don't want them to shut up the idle chatter of the NPCs around town.

The banker is marginally annoying - but the two standing outside the smithy are way more irritating. "Did you hear a stranger saved King Casimir?" .. "I'd like to buy that Hero an ale!" over and over, with virtually no pause inbetween. Highly irritating since it's right next to the crafting tables. Had I known about them, I'd have waited to finish that quest line!

Oh god, that banker drives me nuts. That long ass spiel every single time you need to open your bank or guild store, which I often have to go back and forth between a few times.

I found her speech annoying the very first time I heard it in beta. Now having to listen to it dozens of times a day, I wish I could put a contract with the dark brotherhood on her!

I actually reduced the amount of crafting materials I deposit on the bank to transfer to my alts...

I love the game, but having to hear that phrase over and over at the banker is annoying. It's not one sentence, it is multiple sentences over and over. You can't switch between bank and guild bank or guild store without exiting and entering the dialog, and she says it again even though she said it 30 seconds ago.

I don't mind the random chatter from people walking by, even if it is repetitive - it is an NPC that you interact with all the time saying the same thing over and over ad naseum that bugs me.

If it doesn't bother you, then congrats. I'm providing feedback. As I interact with my bank and guild store a lot, it is something I'm encountering over and over. If it were every once in awhile, I would not complain.

I wish they'd put a delay timer in the npc, that they won't speak again for 10mins or something. Anything so I don't have to listen to it over and over and over.

It would be less annoying if you could exit from the bank interface to her dialogue options rather than exiting the whole thing. You can do it in Skyrim (can't remember for Oblivion or Morrowind) so presumably it's possible, though then I guess you'd have people complaining that it didn't drop you straight back out of the interface/dialogue/etc.

This problem is just silly. I never got annoyed by the banker's dialogue 'cause I never let them finish speaking. I just quickly deposit stuff in the bank and leave.

You don't have to wait for them to finish? As soon as you access your bank or guild store, it doesn't stop them from talking - they finish what they are saying regardless. I'm glad you think it is a non-problem, congrats. I just happened to find the repeated monologue that is not skippable to be irritating. Yes, I can walk away from the NPC, but I came there to actually interact with them.

I agree. I think once you've heard the dialogue once, it wouldn't re-play it. At least, not automatically.

It boggles my mind how some players can have the mentality of "If you don't think the way I do, then you're wrong". People can have different opinions, sheesh. In this case, what bothers some doesn't bother everyone.

Heck, it doesn't bother me, but i can see how it would be a pain in the ass for someone it does bother. That doesn't mean they are wrong for feeling that way. I say good for anyone who is willing to give feedback in a constructive way.

Daggerfall banker out of all the npc's that I've come across is probably the only one that annoys me the most so far. The blacksmith npc is probably the 2nd, but not nearly as bad as her. I actually kept my earphones plugged in the computer (not in my ears) entire time I was in the bank. Lol, I've been constantly telling myself that she needs new dialog or at least her script needs to be rewritten where she only says "Welcome to the bank of Daggerfall."

rofl me and my guild were just talking about this yesterday. It wouldn't be so annoying if each time you had to switch from the bank to the guild bank to the guild store and back to the bank again you didn't hear the whole thing over again. We are ready to perform the dark sacrament on Angier

It'd be one thing if the Bank of Daggerfall actually provided loans in the first place...
