Accessibility

In U35 dot timers were increased for the sake of "accessibility". Most were changed to 20 seconds. Why has Werewolf been removed from this standard? Blood claws now has a 10 second timer or 6 second timer in PvP. The change to the timer specific to pvp is also new and uncalled for. Do Werewolf skills not fall within the standard of accessibility that other skills have? If not, why? It feels like we're just making up the rules as we go.

Werewolf is only one bar- 5 skills. I'm guessing they want something for you to do other than spam. It's not like you're unloading several dots on backbar and switching back. By all accounts, Werewolf is now one of the most accessible builds in recent memory.

    Thank god
Making dots into 20 seconds was one of the worst ideas ever, I'm glad ZOS changed their mind about it, it ruined dynamics and made some rotations too boring. Besides, werewolves only have 5 skills. Why would dot need to be 20s if they have 5 less skills to press?

Blood claws is bugged and isn't connecting with the target. A 6 second dot in PvP with an "Aoe" skill that doesn't land is terrible to use.

To be clear, I don't think dots need to be 20 seconds or higher. I think zos need to be consistent. That is what I am taking issue with.

They were changed to 10 seconds (many AoEs) or 20 seconds (many target-applied DoTs), and largely for standardization (to allow systems like Scribing and subclassing, and for easier balance) rather than exclusively accessibility.

With Werewolf having only 6 skills slotted, a 20-second DoT doesn't make too much sense compared to a 10-second DoT that's (ideally) slightly stronger in exchange.

Sort of disagree with this. The spreadsheet consistency approach to balancing is a large part of what dumbed down & homogenized the game so badly over the years.

DOTs in particular would be much more interesting with varying durations (preferably no longer than 10 seconds) based on DOT strength, secondary effects, application type, etc. 20 second dots never should have existed, at least not sticky dots. Perhaps thats fine for ground AOEs.

If I'd want high APM on my fingers I'd go play piano. I don't want to play piano on my controller. When update 35 dropped I praised it. I still praise it. Love long dots.
Just as a counter opinion. Not really going to discuss much into it; I know everyone loves to hate U35 XD not me.

Disagree with that guy above saying that 20 second DoTs shouldn't exist. 20 second DoTs should exist or they should return them back to the scaling before PvPers that couldn't slot purge got them nerfed. The game shouldn't cater to PvPers that refuse to slot purge.

The same purge that costs 6k magicka and removes 3 effects, in a meta where you instantly have 10+ (and often 20-30+) effects on you within seconds of entering combat? That would be pretty silly.

In any case, if DOTs were brought back down to shorter durations, they would be much stronger (in PVP) since they'd be dealing their total damage over a shorter period of time. The trade off being they'd need to be re-applied more frequently, which is healthy for the game.

So basically you're admitting it's because you refuse to slot purge that you want everyone else to essentially get nerfed and have to suffer? The entire game doesn't need to change because you don't like having a bunch of DoTs on when fighting multiple people.

I continuously cannot understand how it is that what troubles you doesn't really trouble me. You're not the only one playing on live and anyone can verify how often it is that DoTs are stacked like that from a single source. It's not often.

PvPers in this game are weird. They pretend the game takes skill to play, then want the game balance shifted to give them every advantage possible.

You can't purge with your build? That's a build decision. There's more than one way to purge, utilize it and pay the cost or do without it. That kind of thing is called BALANCE. Something PvPers in this game seem to hate to the extreme.
