Since official launch launcher only allows install instead of play.

With the downtime before the official launch my launcher dl'ed a small update. This led to my launcher having the option "install" instead of play. It tries to reinstall the entire game when this option is chosen. Many people experienced this issue. A fix was found in pausing the installation and choosing repair. However, I have ESO installed on my ssd and can not free enough disk space for another install, so I can't start the installation and then repair. I can start the game from the .exe in the game file. But it has been a few days now and the update I expected to come out to fix this issue hasn't come. This seems very sloppy to me. I would like my issue solved.

P.S. I contacted the customer support, however, they treated my case like a not enough diskspace case and told me to free space on my hdd, while I already have the game installed and played it for the full early access period (which I wrote in my appeal, so they obviously didn't read it).

Same problem here. Fixes given to me by others haven't worked. Launcher update didn't help. Did the verify/repair, gave me Error 209 which is a problem with EU, not NA per support sticky. I'm in NA. Played all through open beta/pre-launch early access period. Can't believe this widespread problem hasn't been solved yet.

Will try uninstalling, reinstalling when I go to bed since it'll take 8 hours to download again. Disappointed.

Launcher needs to be fixed, the only reason it needs 60GB is to unpack the files, but it should either examine the PC's TMP/TEMP system variables and unpack to the temporary directory, or allow the player to specify a preferred unpack directory.
It's not like SSD's are a new invention, they've been around for a while.

I had the SSD's lack of space problem when patching for EA, as a fix I copied the files from the SSD to my Hard Drive, ran the launcher from the HD and once patched copied the files pack to my SSD. It's a PITA to be honest but at least it worked.

Hey there, everyone. If you don't mind, please try the steps listed here:

    1. Cancel or pause the patch
    2. Expand the Game Options menu (Cog wheel located above the News Feed)
    3. It should say Updating…., under that it should say Cancel. Click Cancel
    4. The expanded tab should now change to include "Repair." Click repair, and wait for it to finish.

Repairing will go through a loop of verify -> download -> verify until all the files are repaired. The progress bar will therefore go from 0 to 100 multiple times before it finishes. It is possible that the system will need to download large files.

    5. Attempt to log in again.

Please let us know if this helped to fix your issue.

When the launcher has got to the point where it only says "install" there is no "repair" option available to us on the launcher.

@babylon‌ If you begin the install, then cancel it, and resume the above steps, is "Repair" still unavailable?

As soon as you begin the install your entire game is wiped from the computer.

    Dear Jason,
As I explain extensively in my post, in this very same thread, I cannot do this, because my game is installed on my ssd and there is no free diskspace to install the game. This leads to the error msg appearing stating I do not have enough free diskspace, this prevents the installation from ever starting so I cannot pause nor cancel it and thus I cannot get to the repair part. I am not able to free diskspace on my ssd cause it has all essentials installed here.

    Still not fixed.

    Still an unresolved.
  • malkoyb16_ESO
Still unresolved. Still ignored. Have the same "install" block and at least 2 of my guildies (there's 50 in the guild atm) have the same issue. We are starting the game throught .exe.

Problem is with a launcher, not the files, minor fix. Yeah, hard to find where it went wrong, but still, Why make people wait for 20 hourst to "repair" it, where most of data files are perfectly fine?

i was also starting the game from eso.exe. once i found the game options cog under News in the launcher clicked cancel and then repair. after it checked the game files took about 5 minutes it downloaded small patch and launcher now functions fine. thank you for support on this issue was afraid i would have to uninstall and download client again from not being able to patch. had this problem in other games with launchers after a patch or transition from beta.

OMG if you have not enough diskspace, uninstall it and reinstall it. yes it takes time to download it again, atleast better then sitting here and waiting.

This will take days with my internet connection.

On another note, with the new patch my game is outdated, so now I can't update and thus not play the game from the .exe anymore. Because zenimax still has not fixed the issue explained in this thread. I want my money back.

I don't even have the option to "REPAIR" after clicking cancel...it just gives me the option to "INSTALL" again after clicking cancel. Awesome, glad I spent over $100 on this...oh and fun side note: My physical copy of the Imperial Edition still hasn't shipped from Amazon.
