Hi I was hoping somebody could give me some advice. I'm looking to get back into the game however I have not played since the High Isle expansion . It used to be a case of buying the latest expansion and getting access to everything before that but I'm getting confused as my only options are buying the base game or buying the deluxe edition .. what do I need to purchase to get current again ?

Thanks

this post tells you what the Standard and Deluxe Editions contain.
you probably need Deluxe, though it will not include every single dlc

I would suggest that you wait until there will be a sale on Deluxe version which usually will happen during Summer and Winter sales and then purchase Deluxe as it is the only version that possible purchase

If you look at Deluxe version store page you will see what order that expansion have been published from down and up and from right to left; Necrom, Gold Road and Seasons of the Worm Cult is what you are missing if you stopped plying at High Isle and had bought everything before that as Chapter or Expansion.

With ESO plus subscription you will also unlock DLC content that you still will not have access to with only purchase of Deluxe and ESO plus does also have some sales on packages (earlier Chapter or Expansion), so I would take a look in game for what you can see when you go to Crown Store UI and check out what is under ESO plus subscription panes offer (reduced price in yellow).

It is hard to give in depth suggestion as it some people purchase every Chapter/Expansion as to own them and also DLC packages to get access to dungeons and trails that isn't part of Expansion/Chapter and needs to be bought or have an active ESO plus sub to get access to.

What I write here about Companions is more as to inform you as what to consider in case you haven't unlocked or purchased those Companions as stopped playing with High Isle and it might be some Companions you haven't yet added to your account and can now access.

With ESO plus you will at least have access to two Companions that you can purchase for free (only for ESO plus subscribers or each will cost 1000 Crowns or 1500 Crowns for both). If you purchase a 30 days sub and cancel it, you will still now own those two Companions, so it can be one solution to get those Companions (instead of purchasing Crowns and then use Crowns to unlock those) which came with Blackwood expansion and was expanded on with High Isle and Necrom. You will probably lack access to Azandar al-Cybiades and Sharp-as-Night which came with Necrom expansion.
