created a new DK, and when I leveled, I got NO attribute and skill points to use. The game kept going back to level screen.

✭✭✭Did you forget to claim the leveling reward by any chance?
You need to do that first, either collect the one off reward or make your choice of one, when multiple are offered.
I only ask because I've done that before and you cannot assign points etc until you have claimed the reward.
