QoL Alliance change tokens

While we are on the topic of getting rid of QoL issues, how about this archaic system? We can still keep campaign locks, but why not abolish the faction system all together and let people sign up for a faction when they enter the campaign each month?
In this age of decline do we really need any more reasons to stop playing for months on end? I play on various alliances off and on, but there are plenty of other people I know who are not from the US and cant afford dropping the converted equivalent of 80-100usd just to change their alliance. Its a massive gatekeeping financial burden for no reason that forces people to simply not play the game when they otherwise could have.
Zos already suggested it for the new PvE gamemode where you could change which faction you sign up for at the start of the event. PvP has struggled enough population wise, we don't need the gatekeeping.

BG MMR should NOT reset, zos sponsored smurfing is a terrible design choice.
PvP needs more incentives, even simple potion mats or gold would be better than rewards for the worthy inventory bloat
