I believe subclassing skill colors must be reworked.

Subclassing has destroyed class identity. One of the problems is aesthetics. For example; I have a Nightblade character then opened a Templar skill line via subclassing. Because; this character is a nightblade not a templar; its variation of templar skills' aesthetics must be altered. Instead of white-gold skills; they should have red skills with black hue as default. Or red skills [primary aspect] with white-yellow (templar color) hue [secondary aspect] as default. Subclassing is like minor degree in real life. So; there should be some differences. And this aesthetic alterations must replace original variants' for subclassers. Do you agree with me or not?

I mean this problem could easily be solved if they just released a bunch of colors for class skills. I don't know why they're being so slow in doing it.

Optionally, that’d be great. Not everyone would want it that way, though, as they might consider their characters to actually be multiple classes.

That said, it would be awesome if it wasn’t just a cosmetic change but also damage types. Lightning DK whip if you’re a sorc, frost fatecarver if you’re a warden, etc. Wouldn’t be great for elementalists but that’s one build that I’m not sure is even that viable currently?

    This would be great.

Current Skill Styles should be an option, but by default, your skills should match the color of your current main class.

It could be a spectrum too, not just Orange for Dragonknight, or Crimson for Nightblade… but any neutral colors mixed in. Morphs could be distinguished by a white or black accent to skills, instead of base class or green.

I mean, it's the least they could do for class identity, isn't it? And in my opinion, it's a lot less risky than a full class refresh.

I fundamentally don't understand why even basic recolors are being drip-fed. Why can I not simply buy a blue recolor for the entirety of the Templar skill lines? Or red for the Necro skill lines? Let alone other colors.

more Skill Styling for Class Skills would be awesome.

I actually like how the skills look by default and don't want everything to be homogenized to the same hue. I support new Skill Styles, though, because they offer players more choice.

But I have found the light i.e. templar skills so would not want this to be the case.

Having more optional skill style colors particularly via an earnable and not crown store method would be appreciated. I am sure eventually they will release something I really want and will spend crowns for but nothing yet.

Replace the "default" option with 2 new options:

    *skill line name* default
    and
    *base class name* default

On a non-multiclassed character both options would do the same thing.
On a multiclassed character the *skill line name* default option would set the colour to what would traditionally be expected from it, while the *base class name* default option would override the colour to match what the character uses on their base skills.

EG: A templar would turn fatecarver yellow with *base class name* default, while a nightblade would turn it red, and a dragonknight would turn it orange.

    Agree except these two points.

Subclassing has allowed for new class identities, which are far stronger identities due the ability to choose it for yourself rather than being exactly the same as everyone else who shares your class. I don't understand why some people seem to think "class identity" means "everyone needs to be the same as me!" The only real issue with subclassing is the fact that none of the skill lines were properly balanced to be used in this way (something which Zos claims to be addressing going forward), which limits the class combinations you can effectively engage in.

In no way shape or form should a skill style be forced on anyone. Zos 100% should be releasing recolor packs to match skill lines to various classes, but they need to be available to anyone and completely optional.

There are two issues with the re-hues - one I don't think they look very good and two, it'll take ages to make different colours for everything and cost us a fortune.

Instead I'd suggest a non-neon, no flashy effects neutral style for every skill. So it's useful not just for subclassers but for those of us who might want to neutralise some of the more ugly skills on their pure builds. In other words you can see what the skill does, but it's not colour-themed to any class. Make it attractive, but something that better fits into the Elder Scrolls aesthetic. I'm not a five-year-old who needs specific colour coding to know when I'm playing my NB or DK.

I'd also like the option to just show others skills with that neutral style too. This would also be handy for newbies who don't want to be confused what skill is being used because it's orange for one person and purple for another. But also for those of us who game in the evening and don't want our eyeballs to be bombarded by ESO "fashion" skills :D

    I do not agree.
The main reason I disagree is that subclassing learns the skill tree, not a variation of the skill tree, so the skills should look like they look for everyone.

The second reason I disagree is that I do not like the color red and I do not want red skills.

Only if we can disable it client side for ourselves along with all skill styles. I don't need another 5,000 recolors and new effects for the same skills making it impossible to read combat flow.

Yeah, I'd love to be able to turn off other players' skill styles, personally. I have no idea why ZOS has decided we all like the most obnoxiously saturated violets and reds, but here we are.
The second reason I disagree is that I do not like the color red and I do not want red skills.

I really wish we could choose our skill colours ourselves. I'd send out storms of pale blue lightning everywhere if I could.

Class identity was bad before Subclassing came along.
The monetisation of skill styles is a part of ZOS's commercial strategy. It seems unreasonable to assume they'd change that without compensation.

I also would like to remind everybody that an animation cannot be simply recoloured. What we have at the moment is a system, where the base skills styles get replaced, not changed.
