PC's won't be exactly dropped nor will consoles, the platforms will evolve into a "device" which will be used to stream games from the internet and do our daily chores all from the same "box".
Maybe everyone will be playing from their refrigerator. :D

So many people keep mentioning BG3. Is it really that good? I've watched a little gameplay but I've never played D&D before.

It’s so good. Totally deserved GOTY over Zelda (which should be saying something considering my name lol)

You don’t need to know really anything about D&D or even the first two Baldur’s Gate games for this one. Everything you need to know is shown off as you go, and the game completely encourages exploration.

I would suggest doing a first playthrough with a custom character (or Dark Urge) instead of an Origin though. Each of the companions is so well written (and voiced!) so it’d be a shame to miss out on one because they’re the player character.

But yes, the writing and acting is glorious. There are an insane number of lines in the game - pretty well every other dialogue gives a racial- or class-based option with unique responses. I still remember that the final choice was one that actually made me turn off the game for a while to make a full pro/con list before I could choose, and even then I think that character has different lines (and motivations) depending on how you’ve treated them throughout the game.

I really want Bethesda to really study that game before TES6 comes out, because BG3 is almost a textbook of “how to make your game land well with people and be super memorable and replayable.”

But because some players are sucking it up and pushing the bar, others prefer to reject that possiblity and would rather insist that the fix is in.

Yeah, that’s what I look for in a game I’m paying to play, forcing myself to grind content I hate.
The only thing that could make it better is switching to a payment model that charges me more for less.
Oh wait, they already did that.

Wow that's high praise. I was going to wait until it was on some kind of sale but I think I'll just spend the 70 bucks.

Nobody's claiming the event is fun (well, almost nobody, there's always one). Nonetheless, yes it's a pain, a chore, and all around miserably tedious. But that wasn't what was at question here.

Right, and that’s exactly the point.
Nobody’s arguing it’s fun. The question is whether the grind is even real.

If the meter moves based on a fixed timeline and not actual player activity, then “sucking it up and pushing the bar” isn’t pushing anything.
It’s just busywork to maintain the illusion of progress.

And I’m not here to reward that.
I pay to play games for entertainment.
I “suck it up” all day at work and at home, that earns me money to pay for the things I need.
I’m not going to suck it up again just to play the game I already paid for.
This is supposed to be my break from the treadmill of life.
I refuse to simulate it in-game.

That’s why people are calling the fix.
Not because it’s hard, but because it’s hollow.

When BG3 was still in early access, I had the idea to pick Divinity: Original Sin II up to see if I liked Larian's game mechanics before committing to a preorder. Long story short, D:OS II basically never got much of a discount. On the flip side, their committing to continuing to polish and expand on the game is impressive. I really feel like I got my money's worth and then some with BG3.
