How long should a world boss fight last?

I think that any world boss should be possible to finish by at most two players running something easy to play like a HA mythic build with a leveled companion. I don't care if it takes 8 minutes but I want to be able to finish it. Because after the zone empties out, I still want to be able to do a world boss daily with one other player when we decide we want to do that.

Just because you put more health on something doesn't mean its more challenging.

"World Boss" should be treated as it sounds. It takes the effort of the world coming together and working together to defeat it. I personally feel like most people look at fights and get in shock seeing high health and high damage numbers and instantly think OMG this is so epic! and it's really not. I mean it CAN be if its done right.

Everyone say it with me "MECANICS" and I know that is bad word, but ESO at its foundation would absolutely thrive with mechanical fights. Now on the opposite end of the spectrum and developers please for the love of talos listen when I say this.... ONE Shot mechanics should NOT be used as a primary go to in order to make encounters challenging!!!! >:|

There should be a give and take between the player and the encounter so that when fights are occurring the player is forced to give focus and effort to the encounter in order to complete it and the closer you as a developer can get that encounter to where its like a tug of war that is the golden target for fun. Players wont have fun if they're giving it their all only to be hit by some garbage mechanic that instantly just rips their efforts out of their hand, just like players wont have fun if all they have to do is sneeze in the general direction of something to kill it. Either way it doesn't matter if the encounter last 5 seconds or if it last 45 minutes. IF that sense of tug of war is not there you lose the fun associated to the encounter and in saying this, this mentality goes towards ALL encounters in my opinion not just world bosses. You can absolutely have brief encounters that are healthy challenges that are fun every single time you engage it. This is what ZOS needs to be focused on restoring to the game IMO.

    1 to 2 minutes
Anything beyond about 2 minutes is just getting tedious and is relying on the boss being a damage sponge more than anything.

Just my opinions, but I think world bosses should be challenging and should take some time and effort to kill if you're trying to tackle them solo. My main characters are what most players would call "weak," because they're solo builds with attribute points split between Health and Stamina, plus I haven't farmed for all of the BIS gear and mythics that other players seem to feel are essential for playing the game. That means I can't burn through world bosses the way other players can, and can't handle some of them solo, but I enjoy soloing the world bosses that I can handle and having the fights last for a while.

On the other hand, for world event dailies (i.e., incursions) and world boss dailies I think it's nice to have a group of players be able to burn down a powerful boss quickly, because the goal in those cases is usually to get the fight over as fast as possible so everyone can move on to the next daily.

But, yeah, outside of events and dailies I usually do enjoy a boss fight that lasts for a while, because to me that makes the fight feel a lot more epic.

    3 to 5 minutes
It truly depends on the number of players fighting the boss (it should scale the bosses difficulty indefinitely IMO). But the enjoyment from a long fight is also dependent on the mechanics being fun and engaging. If it's just 3-5 minutes of you doing your rotation while stationary, it's little better than parsing on a dummy - not fun.

Some scaling should exist, just like the Dark Anchors and Abyssal Geysers have additional waves of enemies if there are more players are attacking them.
