Why am I feeling so lonely this event? (Writhing wall event)

Hi forum friends,
For the first time in a long time, a community event just doesn't have the same vibe, spirit or zest about it. I was so excited to buy the game pass and been waiting like a lil kid on Christmas eve for this event but once I got online today I felt anxious, depressed and flat about the whole thing and eso is my game, only game I play.
I love eso,let me be clear about this. Im not here to bash this game or the devs. I just don't enjoy this event at all.
1. The farming for skins is ridiculously tedious and frustrating.
2. I do not like the rewards at all, not my thing.
3. It took me a while to figure out why the camps were not activating for me even though I was able to pick up all the 4 dailies...cos I needed to complete the prologue quest. No indication if this so I turned off many addons, waited for like 45 mins and then I decided to go back to the quest base, luckily. I had to turn in some completed quests before the camps activated yet they lit up on my map so it was confusing.
4. Once you do the dailies for the gold coffers, there is no incentive to do them again. I did do them on alts only to be disappointed with the amount of effort versus the rewards.
5. So all this for a whole week...
6. I hate myself for being disappointed and sounding like a whining child but yea I feel let down

I feel lonely cos the community vibe of us all working together is non existent sadly

try grouping. i have not bothered because it all looks pretty tedious to me and i don't have time to deal with it right now, but others have posted that grouping helps with the drops (at least for the souls) because when it drops for one, it drops for all. that may help with the lonely feeling also. it for sure helps with the tagging of mobs and the ability to loot them.

the camps were bugged. it's possible they fixed them after your wait? i don't know if they fixed them yet. i only know that zos admitted to them being bugged in one of the pinned posts here.

i only did one gold box and one blue box for crafting out of curiosity. i did not get any patterns, but a guildmate said they were doing all the crafting ones because they were getting patterns from the not-gold boxes also. might be worth a try. those are pretty easy and painless to do (plus they count towards the pursuit if you are doing that).

    4. Once you do the dailies for the gold coffers, there is no incentive to do them again. I did do them on alts only to be disappointed with the amount of effort versus the rewards.

This ^ Players would put up with the grind, the low drop rates, the completing for resources, and so on, if a) the rewards in the subsequent blue coffers were worthwhile, and b) completing the meter fast was more meaningful. We'll get the new zone regardless, but if there was something cool associated with a server unlocking it first, more people would be committed to the farming. As far as I saw yesterday on PC/NA, a lot of us opted to just have a dance party in the main camp than participate in the event activities, and it was understandable, because neither the activities themselves nor the rewards were particularly nice. The glitches, bugs, and the meter reset didn't help either, and the new WB unceremoniously appearing in the zone was also kind of anticlimactic. I realize there are technical limitations to the things they can design for non-instanced content that affects the map live, but even using Cyrodiil sieges on the wall, and having monsters coming out to fight or to defend the sieges against, would feel cooler and more involved than doing the quests. Hopefully, the next two phases will be better...

I'm with you Recent. This is practically the only mmo I play because I love it. But I was also so excited for this event, and yet, it's just not exciting. It's grinding again and doing the same things over and over and not very many rewards for it. I know we'll be getting a very cool house soon and looking forward to that. The camp sites glitching and riding around all over the place is not making me very happy either.

You are not, we are right to complain about the quality of this event.

The event is extremly bad, bugged and I discovered recently that they balanced it to have the two first phase taking around a month to be completed.

I was also hyped by this event but I was just naive because all Zenimax said was marketing lies, like all we got from them those last few years...

The event will be over in 12 days 23 hours. But after almost 26 hours only 3.3% has been accomplished on PC for Phase One. At this speed Zenimax has lost their gamble. The wall will fall around Christmas. :/
During the afternoon of Loredas, 6 Sun’s Dawn 2e578 a big piece of Aetherius fell to Nirn. It was the first major piece of Aetherius to fall on Nirn in more than five hundred years. It scattered around the world as millions of shards. It was rapidly documented by Lady Cinnabar of Taneth in her pamphlet Aetherial Fragments that "... when three shards meet, they re-form into a silvery prism by unknown process and confer the power unlocked by the merger to a nearby being." The Order of the Black Worm, commonly known as the Worm Cult, reappeared in Tamriel shortly thereafter and some of its members are avidly searching said shards.
In the last week of First Seed 2e579, an arcane explosion occurred in the Imperial City — a night of storms, and trembling terrain. They named it the "Soulburst". That day Emperor Varen Aquilarios disappeared without a trace. His wife, Clivia Tharn, ascended to the Ruby Throne as Empress Regent under the guidance of the Necromancer Mannimarco. Ushering a time of increased instability within the Empire of Cyrodiil which finally grew into “The Three Banners War”.

The golden pursuits run for over a month, the last phase can't even start for another month until the new patch releases on consoles. Not sure where your 12 days 23 hours is comming from.

Interesting thanks. That does seem like a bad timer choice.

May hint at the original plans perhaps having been different? Like 1 week each for phase 1 and 2 and then ending the thing with the Fortress.

That looks like it ends on the 27th around 10 ET, so exactly 2 weeks after the wall started.

…so about when we’d expect to go to phase 2…

That's also possible. Perhaps I just can't imagine that the original idea was to have an event running for a month or longer... And schedules can always change. Let's be honest: What could be seen on PTS was rather bugged. Or at least I came across more bugs than in the years before.

    Bugs? In this game? Whaaaat?!

Yeah, this whole “server competition” always made it seem like Phase 3 for every server wouldn’t be able to go until Console got their patch. I had originally thought that they intended to shorten the PTS cycle so they could send the patch to certification early and then drop U48 on all servers simultaneously, which could have explained why they tested the U48 events out of order (and started with the only new one) and also offered and explanation on why the patch was obscenely light in terms of combat changes, but that was not the case.
(Not to mention how that affected everything being tested in the first place, considering barely anyone was doing PTS this cycle because all of us who normally do PTS are just fed up with ZOS’s decisions lately)

But I agree - I am so very tired of the number of times someone from PTS has reported a bug, and then the bug goes live without any comment. There’s only so many times you can hear “we’re looking at all feedback!” before you stop believing it.

I agree it does feel like a lonely event. I admit I don't have the Content Pass yet, so I did expect to only be able to participate in a smaller way, and really I'm just thankful I can get boxes at all. But I didn't expect the event to pit me against other players.

If you try to gather souls and materials from the places marked on your maps, there will either be nothing there or you're competing with other players to get a hit on one one-hit mobs. Otherwise you have to actively avoid players and seek out places no one else has found yet.

It feels like an anti-community event, rather than a community event. 😅 At least as a Content Pass-less peon, lol.
