Joining the Undaunted on an AD character can be agony

Talk to Turuk Redclaws in Vulkhel Guard-- easy peasy.

Go find The Banished Cells I dungeon and enter it-- a right royal pain in the posterior if you haven't got the wayshrines in northern Auridon yet, because you must ride a long way and there are several places where you're basically blocked from getting through.

In contrast, reaching the dungeons in Glenumbra and Stonefalls are a breeze because there are no such quest-blocked areas to get past.

The way I dealt with those blocked areas was to go to the beach & swim the coast line until I got to the dungeon. Kind of a pain, but what else is new in Tamriel /shrug

Ignore that and use the Dungeon Finder. You get automatically teleported there, and get to do the dungeon - and probably get a skill point too (unless they rush so fast that you don't get to start the quest)...

Also, there ARE NO quest-blocked areas in Auridon. There are areas where you may have to fight your way through against mobs (e.g. on the road through Dawnbreak), but you can literally ride all the way there. Nothing is actually "blocked".

Well, the far end of the bridge leading to Rilis's isle is blocked by three skeletons, who are initially non-hostile but you can kill them anyway.

why go to Vulkhel Guard if the other places are easier?
i always go to Rosy Lion inn in Daggerfall regardless of my characters' pvp alliance.

I'm thinking op took a wrong turn mid-Auridon at a fork (West) to the last quest area (Firsthold-which has locked doors if you didn't start main quest). If they went straight up it goes to the northern most wayshrine and north of that is a quick jog to Banished Cells. As you said, nothing locked behind a quest that you NEED to get to.

I start all my characters in Daggerfall no matter the alliance. The table with the Undaunted members isa right outside the inn room.

Also, for new people who arent aware, you don't need to do the dungeon, just walk in to it and then you can report success.

When I said "quest-blocked," I said "blocked" rather than "locked" because I was aware that you are not "locked out" of getting into and through those areas. But they are a right royal pain in the posterior to ride through on a lowbie character who doesn't have a lot of awesome skills or high-level gear yet. I meant "blocked" as in hostile NPCs or Daedric mobs trying to get in your way. You can get past them, but riding from Vulkhel Guard to The Banished Cells isn't a "cake walk" like riding from Daggerfall to Spindleclutch or from Davon's Watch to Fungal Grotto (and "cake walk" is a deliberate exaggeration).

I realize that in a normal situation an AD character would likely have played their way through Auridon from south to north and discovered all of the wayshrines by the time they were able to join the Undaunted, but the AD characters I was doing this on haven't played through Auridon yet, and got to their current levels primarily by doing daily crafting writs.

Anyway, it's enough to make me feel sorry for AD players and what they have to go through-- until I go to Cyrodiil, and then I'm not sorry for them anymore. ;)

There's literally nothing hard about riding on a road for 98% of the trip to the northern wayshrine, you are not required to fight through any mobs, and there is nothing that could possibly block your way, or one shot you. You're making something out of nothing. Not to mention, riding to Spindleclutch is actually "worse" for a new player, that dungeon is in the middle of a lot more mobs you'd run into than in Auridon, lots of werewolves in that area. Is this just an AD hate post? None of it makes sense.

Isnt Spindleclutch the same distance away basically as BC? I dont understand how difficult it would be to ride past mobs. Just literally keep moving and if there are mobs still following you when you get there, just hold block so they attack once and run back. Literally making a mountain out of a molehill tbh.

    This one killed all the mobs along the way, because this one is... Undaunted.{1}

Agreed that it's a bit of a pain due to the distance, and that it can be awkward if you go to the wrong side. Especially when compared to the others. AD also seems to have more maps with major geographical obstacles overall, especially on the mainland. It'd be nice if there was a little more consistency between the alliances in terms of ease of getting to things like the initial Undaunted dungeons and dolmens,

{1} Actually, I'd levelled up to 50 before starting the Undaunted quest on that character!

It was harrible. EP's setup for this is so much better. Like by alot. Quite frankly anything else would be better.

Perhaps this is where a ronin such as you belongs. Today, Victory is mine. Long Live the Empire.

Maybe you rode through Dawnbreak, which has a few daedra and possibly took a wrong turn through North Point, which is heavy with mobs. If you decided to take the fork through Greenwater Cove it has a lot of mobs, but that way is longer and you’d have to ride through Firsthold too, which is hostile. The rest of the map is fairly safe along the roads.

I guess if you consider the whole path from Vulkhel Guard where the inn is located to Banished Cells, it is a long ride. Spindleclutch is a long ride from Daggerfall though as well, and so is Fungal Grotto from Davon’s Watch.
