Numbers decline, as said in many other threads. Need Crossplay

SAID and ARE are not the same thing. ZOS doesn't release players stats, but what we do KNOW is that according to Steam Stats the number of players now is the same as they were in 2019. There was a spike in 2020 - 2022 (you know when people couldn't leave the house).

So that's my imperical evidence. Where's yours?

I am not evidence but . . . I don't play on steam so my stats are not included on Steam, yes?

Steam playerbase =/= entire playerbase, but it is big enough to see trends. And it's the only non-speculative metric available to us.

Here is a breakdown of recent ESO player statistics from multiple sources:

MMO Populations (August 2025): Estimated daily player count of 84,562. This figure likely does not include all players, as the site uses a specific algorithm to generate its numbers.

ActivePlayer.io (August 2025): Estimated 150,000 to 200,000 daily active players. This source also reports over 3 million monthly active players.

Steam Charts (August 2025): Shows much lower concurrent player counts, with a 24-hour peak of about 13,301 on August 25, 2025. This only tracks players using the Steam launcher and excludes those on consoles (PlayStation and Xbox), Epic Games, or the native PC launcher.

Statista (April 2025): Reported that the total number of ESO players reached 25 million in 2024, with over 1 million players joining that year.

i keep logging in to wait in 1 hour queues for 3 of the other estimated 149,999 to 199,999 mentioned here to queue for the same dungeon as me

There's a lack of supports in this game. When the queue is full of DDs, some healers and almost no tanks, the queue times are long for anyone except tanks, and even then you'll risk getting a fake tank.

Be kind to your tank. Thank them personally after completion even if they did some mistakes. You want them to keep coming back.

lol, no. i also tank heal and dd nobody ever thanks me maybe once in every 500 dungeons and then when in a group thats not got atleast one of the same players as the last group or was on at the same time yesterday, i do my part and thats enough, my other contribution is to offer to swap chars if a group is struggling a little so aperson left. the last time i noticed another player offer that before dishing out a bit of flack is maybe once a year. in the old days and even now in a blue moon i doo admit to the odd nice group although rare other than that compliments creep me out a little now it is so out of the ordinary in group queue and finder. sort of like being in one group and throwing out the handshakes when a job well done then joining another with the flak ready and a player honestly does not need to be around long to have witnessed that
side note: people need to take into account i only have 136 levels of cp random group goodness in me before cp becomes extint at 3600 i laready queue specific to slow it down a bit, then nothing but good memories of every one of my first groups how the name i chose for my archer stood out enough to get those laughs (top secret now)

Yeah, I know. No one ever thanks tanks but are eager to point out any mistake they make.
...and then complain when the queue times are long.

Tbh I also don't specifically thank tanks or any other individual player, unless they do something remarkable. But I always greet the group at the beginning of the dungeon and thank the group at the end. Even if things got more difficult than they had to be.

If you play every role, you have probably noticed DDs have to queue longest. In recent months I have seen that even as a healer you get waiting times. Not as bad as a DD but still. I guess more people are starting to play as a healer. But as a tank, unless you queue at some obscure time of day when no one is playing, the queue is almost instant. Even when it's not that busy at your favourite player hub (like Vivec City) the tank queue is rarely over a minute.

    Do daily crafts.
Go collect the surveys (if any), except the Malabar Tor Alchemy one, that goes right into the pile in the bank (you know what you did).
Do the Master Writs (if any).
Check the pocket money, and check TTC to see if I can afford the next missing motif on the list. If so, grab it. If not, save for the next day.
    Relog to the next alt.
    Repeat for all alts.
If there's enough time left, then I'll actually "play" some. Like run a story quest or a daily or something.

It's a lonely ESO life. Since my trial group quit en masse due to the ridiculous hybrid changes, I've been pretty much on my own. "Active trials guilds" who only run like a single trial per week and do everything through Discord, leaving the guild chat effectively dead, don't count as "active" in my opinion. So for now I wander. Maybe one day I'll find some friends again.

Subclasssing killed ESO for me. Seeing MS ditched firor and lambert has me hoping there is a new direction ESO will go in soon though.

Have been shot down for disagreeing with someone about the population on PSEU 😂

I find it just fine. One guild has died down, another is going from strength to strength, so much that they have created a sister guild.
Running trials 3 nights a week. Lots of other things going on. Even with it being summer & people on hols or just out enjoying the weather

Do dailies - Elsweyr & Summerset for mats for housing at the mo. Took one char through N Elsweyr with Zerith var & liked his comments. Will now try S Elsweyr with him.

    Taking second char through Solstice.

Looking at achievements & seeing if can get any of those odd ones am missing.

    Housing. Lots of housing.

Looking forward to update (next week?) & running new dungeons.

Gray Host was no bars this afternoon.
Blackreach was no bars this afternoon.
Ravenwatch and ice reach have had no bars in a long time.

Game is dying. No regular cadence for updates means no accountability. Downsizing means less possibilities for fixes the game desperately needs.

I don't do anything to keep logging on. I log on to play the same as I did 10 years go, questing and fighting on the overland. I delete characters that I don't enjoy playing and create new ones with different combinations of races, gear, and classes. I am sill playing the character I started ESO with and he is not boring.

I don't play group dungeons, trials, PvP, or group arenas. I don't rely on other players to fulfill my game enjoyment so the game does not feel as if the numbers are declining.

    I'm on PC-EU.

Tank ques are near instant from morning to late evening.
Healer ques morning/during the day 5 min at most; during peak hours almost instant.
DD ques are around 20-30 minutes depending time of day.

With the armory system allowing you to easily have multiple builds on the same character it still surprises me that there's such a lack of support players queing for dungeons.

It's even better for me to que as a DD when I'm a healer or tank when doing battlegrounds because that ques faster than doing it as a tank or healer, not sure why we are still checking roles for BG's.
