Super Lag since official launch day

Just wondering if anyone else is experiencing this terrible lag since the official launch day today. Was fine before now

I was fine for the first 2 days of Early Access. Since then I've been having consistent freezes in every zone and on all my characters. At first it was only for a second or two at a time. But as time went on the duration of the freezes increased to 3-5 seconds.

What gets me is the pattern and frequency is just like the UI crashes that used to happen in Beta. So I suspect some kind of kludge has been used to compensate for their crappy, and completely unstable, UI design. But the kicker is trying to get help from Technical Support. Because they either don't know what to do. Or they just don't care at all. Either way you can't get anything but pat answers that fail to resolve the issue.

Haven't experienced any lag yesterday during NA prime time. It's to be expected to lag during the first couple of days / weeks. I assume they are currently gauging everything and adjusting their servers settings so that we have a smooth experience. This is their first MMO so hang in there.

Yes experience the same: every couple of minutes it freezes -> error -> new login after a couple of minutes and so on..

If we're talking screen freezes, then I have been getting them in Cyrodiil today. I never had them at all during the early access. I'm still trying to work out weather its my PCs issue or something else.

Everytime I fight monsters I experience a lag. I fight them and I KNOW that I already killed them but they still stand there with a little hp left...a few seconds later they finally die. It's a little bit annoying.

For the first few days of early access I was fine. Today I have had multiple instances of lag, especially during combat. I wouldn't be able to use my skills ( I would click them and if I clicked anything else before it responded it would cancel my original command). There would be multiple instances where my game would freeze and then crash (it happened 4 times in one hour). The multitude of bugged quests would be passable if this wasn't another issue. It annoys me that a) they had such a long beta and still have this many bugs and b) that it is a pay to begin AND a sub fee game and you would expect that their servers would be top notch since they have one of the most expensive games on the internet. I surely hope they fix many of these issues before the end of my 30 days is up and I am expected to start paying a subscription for substandard service.

Only in the big cities do I get lag generally.

I'm not sure what to consider "Lag" in this case. I've had strange, partial disconnects which leave me standing around, able to chat with the world, but not able to interact with it. I haven't, however, had the entire screen freezing on me....

I have gotten the occasional 'weapons wont attack' bug, which I recently learned is easily fixed by opening up inventory and closing it again. Hazardous to do in the middle of a fight, but no less so than just standing there and taking it.

But none of these are new to me, nor have they increased in frequency for me since Beta. Honestly, I don't wonder if it isn't my local internet that's the problem.

During prime time, and in specific areas it seems to be a bit lagged, yeah, especially if a lot of players are moving in and out of your area. On a side-note; I also love how the game prioritize loading other players over Banker NPC's and so on forth. That's not a issue with ESO alone though, as mostly all MMO's I've played makes this blatant mistake.

Chances are, hopefully, the servers involved in this mega-server system are just being overly swamped at the moment, and the reason for the lag is just that it's new and has a huge population of players. There's a limit to how much you can do with hardware as well. It could be a engine-issue too. I can withstand a bit of lag here and there until things calm down though. Took mostly all the other MMO's I've played a couple days to stabilize as well right after launch.

I have luckily enough not lagged all that much in ESO. Just a bit in the cities. There's other things that bothers me more than a bit of lag now and again.

Check your ISP or try using a VPN depending on the lag. I've had issues throughout BETA and early access until I realised it was my ISP throttling my connection during peak hours. Am on a free trial VPN at the moment (wtfast) until its either sorted or I swap ISPs. Since its been working brilliantly.

The lag is server side. They need to address this and fix it.

I have always had some lag also in Beta but it was manageable and early access was pretty bad but if I did not go into the big cities or played something like from mindnight a few hours, (hassle) I was still kind of .... ok.

Since the main release the game is basically unplayable for me. Freezes and it jerks and it is frustrating to want to harvest and I am kind of frozen but see somebody run up and harvest in front of my eyes.

I have been struggling along but feel like giving up. Pity I spend a lot of Aussie Dollars on early access version.

I played SWTOR, GW2, Tera, Neverwinter etc etc all completely without problems. I think it is this "Megaserver" where everybody is squeezed in regardless (cheaper for the producers, they already have our money for the box I guess) but I think also it is that the server is in NA. Usually I was going fine on WA servers with all games.

They are just squeezing too many people into one single server. And of course we are the weakest link, the furthest away. But do Aussies really count in the big scheme of things?

Today the game ran extremely smooth for me. I was surprised on how the only ticket I sent was about a gold spammer

I was part of the beta as well as the five day early-access launch. I was running the settings on Ultra with very little lag and on high with zero lag. Since the official launch, (as of April 4th) I am barely able to run the game on minimum settings. Even at minimum settings, i am experiencing extreme lag and about 10 fps. Has anyone else experienced this?

Same issue as well. I even dropped down to the lowest of graphics settings and...10fps. I never had that bad an issue since today.

I'm sure they're on it. ZOS just has terrible communication with the community, but the server techs are sure to have noticed the drop in performance, even on their side.

Not that it is helpfull for those experiencing these problems, but i have had no lag at all until now. EU based and about 15 hours of playing time in 2 days.

Yep, me too. Didn't run into this in beta either. Early access seemed a slightly more laggy then It got worse after 3 day EA and considerable after official launch. It's been quite a problem at times. Especially Cyrodill. Today the cities seemed particularly laggy upon entry.

Lots of lag spikes here too. So much for a "lag free launch". No lag in beta.

Good you don't need your own server then. Give it to the Oceanics instead :3

If you are based in the EU I can understand that you have no problems.
This thread is actually about people that are for instance in Australia and are forced to play on the overloaded NA server.

I had no problems in beta. But as soon as I got on my 5 days early access the lag was painful to say the least. Since the game had final release, the game is basically unplayable. I will not pay a subscription or carry on playing - well, I can't play lol

But seriously - I am very angry

Somebody said he is sure they are onto it and technicians are probably fixing it.

I think it is a problem the techies cannot fix. I think it is a problem with the producers not wanting more than one server because it does not fit into their budget. It seems to just a problem of too many people on the one server.

If I get up at 1 or 2 am and go to an open area in the game or a smallish outpost, It is ok to play simply because there are not so many people on. Come 5 or 6 in the morning and the lag is back

Interesting. I'm in Hawaii and experiencing the same issues. A pacific node added to the NA megaserver would be nice.

For me lag got much worse on 3day early access, but even more so on official launch day.

I routinely get melee'd by NPCs from 8-9yds away, and I'll run up to hit them and just get a whiff sound, then suddenly they have warped behind me and are hitting me. Or I'll kill them, they'll stand there doing nothing for several seconds, then fall over dead. It's gotten me killed many times.

It would be great if ZOS would at least acknowledge this by now and provide some tangible trouble shooting steps or give an update how they are working on this and an ETA.

We remain completely ignored and everyone with working games tell us that its our fault. I refuse to believe that, and I am 83% that this is a zenimax issue

This is exactly why I already gave up on this game, not a single word about a fix from ZOS and everyone else with a working game thinks we are trying to flame the game or something, when in reality we just want to fix our game and play as much as them. There is no way for me to get a refund either since I bought the game from GMG and they refuse to give me a refund, I am pretty much done with ESO, at least I guess I get to learn the lesson to not buy games before I test them and to not buy them from GMG. :(
